My summer in a box

Jun 05, 2011 12:42

Because life is rather sucky and boring right now, I thought I’d make a post about I have to look to forward to this summer because I’ve been waiting all year for all of this.

17-19 June: Southside Festival
An awesome festival located in south Germany. I've got some unfinished business with this festival because I went there in 2008 and stayed all day at the barrier to see the Foo Fighters but by the end of the day I was so tired from all the pushing, the heat etc that I nearly passed out and I remember absolutely nothing from that set except for the moment Dave Grohl told us Taylor Hawkins has an amazing body. So I'm going back this year, seeing the Foo Fighters again but this time I'm not going anywhere near that damn barrier.

Full line-up is here

23 June: Disneyland Paris
I’m used to going there because I live 20minutes away from the resort so I’ve been going there at least once a year for the past.. 20 years? Holy shit this is making me feel so old. I’m going there with my best friend for the first time and I’m excited to show her around and show her little details no one cares about that make this place so magical.

25 June: Paris Gay Pride Parade
I’m so looking forward to that day because I always have the best time with my friends. It’s a great way to show your support to the community because it’s just such a positive event and I make it a point to be there every year to support my friends and also enjoy the eye candy and vodka the whole afternoon

26 June: True Blood season premiere
Eric Northman, that is all.

29 June: Arcade Fire @ Le Zénith
Arcade Fire always reminds me why I love festivals so fucking much. I went to Reading in 2007 and was saving a spot for the Red Hot Chili Peppers who were scheduled to come on stage right after Arcade Fire. I hadn’t heard any of their songs but I fell in love with their music the minute they started playing and to that day it’s still one of my top gigs (and the Peppers ended up being pretty boring).
This is why I love festivals, because it’s a great opportunity to discover new bands as well as see your favourite ones.

2 July: My birthday
I’m definitely not looking forward to turning 26 but I can’t think of a better way to do it except having Dom Howard in my bed.
I’m spending the day at Main Square Festival with my three friends who all leave far away from me so I don’t get to see them often. There we’ll be seeing the likes of Kasabian, White Lies, Arcade Fire, Two Door Cinema Club, The National, Kaiser Chiefs so I know for sure that there will be amazing music at my birthday party

(around) 15 July: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in IMAX 3D
This one is pretty self-explanatory.

26-28 August : Reading Festival
As I said before, I went there in ’07, it was the first major festival I went to and I’ve been wanting to come back ever since so this year seems like the perfect year to do so.

I‘ve got so many great memories from that place, the loud crowd, the amazing bands, tearing up when the crowd sang along to Hurt by Nine Inch Nails (here), all the random people you meet, just everything.Festival are a magical place, it’s like for three days you’re forgetting about all your real life problems, you just have to enjoy the music and have fun.

I was so depressed when I got home from Reading, post festival depression is so much worse than post gig depression and I know it’s going to hit me hard in September. But let's not think about this now, I'm going back to Reading, I'm seeing Muse there and they'll most likely play Origin in Symmetry in full, so life is good.

So that’s about it I think, I also need to schedule in some time to figure out what the hell am I going to do with my life at some point, fun stuff.

life, fun fun fun fun, summer
