i'm burnt out.
i'm trying to burn time between classes, maybe relax a little. i've got aerobic dance soon. it's hard to have enough energy at the end of the day, but it's good for me. i'd do my philosophy homework now, but my book is at home.
i played in a little gig the other night. i just played the djembe for Jenna K. She's such a good singer. So mellow. She likes to cover things like Norah Jones and some bossa nova stuff.
with the film festival going on, i've gotten a lot of opportunities to hear from people that have submitted their work to Sundance. Tuesday's devotional was by a faculty member from the Media Arts department. He studied costume design, so he related how we can show our spiritual maturity by how we present ourselves. Today, I went to a forum by
Brian Udovich, who produced a film (The Wackness) shown at Sundance this year. Then in art class
Brent Green talked to us and we got to see some of his films he made, some of which were at Sundance too. He does this song-narration that is like Bright Eyes. He animates with stop-motion camera, and uses drawings and/or wooden figures. Pretty incredible. He never had any formal instruction/education in art. Just self taught. He works with musicians and makes films/album art and such. He worked with Califone on his film he showed us in class.
well, it's that time of year again. i want to be in washington. i'm tired of the icy sidewalks. i want to go out in flip flips and like it. i'm sick of chapped lips. the two speakers i listened to today were like a breath of fresh air. they were both pretty eccentric, with their attitude and with their language. it caught me off guard. i guess it just seems like sometimes this place is a world of its own. i don't really feel like i am being prepared for the real world quite yet, because byu isn't like the rest of the world. its too... nice.
my computer is going to die. bye now
