NJ Con - Sunday

Awesome vid to start the afternoon - "Not Quite Dead - Redux!" vid. It was hilarious. And when Katherine came out she complemented the vidder. How cool is that?

Katherine
Again, hoping someone out there got some good pics because Katherine was rockin' some awesome shoes. She actually had worn those shoes to her initial audition for Lilith so they're her "good luck demon shoes". She thinks she probably picked them up at Shoe Warehouse on sale somewhere.

Katherine only talked a little bit about the boys. She said right off the bat that she was intimidated by Jensen but that Jared was immediately like, "Oh hey, you're from Texas. We're cool!" Also, Katherine's somewhat in awe of Jared's muscles (who isn't?) insisting they have their own aura and lifeforce. Later on she talked about doing the scene where she's seducing Sam in the hotel room - when Jared was standing over her she had to run her hand up his leg (muscles!) and she was afraid his leg would eat her hand.

Later someone asked if she was a fangirl of any particular show (she acknowledged Dr. Who but was evasive about who her favorite Doctor is stating she hasn't watched enough episodes yet. She'll answer at the next convention) and she admitted that she fangirled Jensen pretty hard. Now, this bothered me - there's a HUGE gap between "I'm intimidated by Jensen" and "I fangirl Jensen" so I got my ass up out of my chair, waited on line and asked about it. I wanted to know where the transition between intimidated and fangirl took place. She basically couldn't answer the question - though she looked so swoony about Jensen you could practially see the anime hearts in her eyes. I totally understand that reaction to Jensen, but I was hoping for some response like "when we got a chance to work together I really admire how he works" - something! Throw me a bone! All she could come up with was that the second episode she shot Jensen was "nice".

If Katherine could have dinner with any three people living, dead or fictional she'd choose Sting, Jesus and Maya Angelou - then they'd do karaoke.

Katherine never had to wear white contacts - all of Lilith's white eyes were CGI effects.

Very helpful to have Kripke directing "Lucifer Rising" because she had to play her death scene like it was the happiest, most fullfilling thing. She liked having him there to talk her through it.

I liked Katherine a lot and think she got a pretty big kick out of the fans.

Samantha
I was very excited to see Samantha on stage because I've never seen her at a con before. Can I just say how awesome she looked in her spagetti-strap, pink tank top and skinny jeans? Her arms are fantastic and you'd never know she's the mother of a little one at home!

I like that she distinguishes her portrayal of Mary at the end of "Dark Side of the Moon" as "scary!Mary" not "evil!Mary". She said that when they did that scene and she was saying all of those awful things to Dean she played it as though it was Zachariah speaking through her because no mother would really say that to her child. She did enjoy getting to play Mary that way.

When asked about what she thought of Amy's portrayal of young Mary she stared off with "Amy's a rock star!" which I thought was awesome. Samantha was very impressed with how Amy incoroprated established Mary-"ness" into the role because Amy's not like Samantha at all. I thought it was very interesting that when asked if she thought young Mary should've made the deal to bring back John she said no, particularly if she knew it would involve their children down the road.

Someone asked about the other scene from "Dark Side of the Moon" where John calls and we hear he's been gone for a few days. Samantha was basically like, "If you're married...you know people fight. Sometimes space is the best thing." She said that in her head the fight was about Mary calling John on his drinking, he stormed out but then he came back - that's what people do. She was very much on board with the fact that John and Mary had a loving, not perfect marriage. The girl who asked the question was so relieved to hear the answer.

When asked if it was difficult to play the scene with Dean and having to ignore Jared as though Sam's not there she said yes; "he's pretty big". And Jared would be making faces to which Sam responded, "Really?" She also reports that the boys don't prank her because they know better - they wouldn't dare.

"Farting is not a prank for Jared. It's an hourly occurance."

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a big teddy bear with "the best voice in Hollywood."

Samantha seemed very appreciative to be involved in the show. She's only been in six actual episodes, but Mary's been so integral to everything. She would like to have a chance to kick some ass like young Mary. She never saw the reveal of Mary as the hunter coming, but loved it. It makes her lack of fear in "Home" make much more sense. The kitchen scene in "Home" was her favorite to play - she only had 3 words of dialogue but it was awesome and mysterious.

Samantha also reports having a Depression era ghost in her house that she, her husband and the neighbor's daughter have seen. Someone in the audience suggested it would be a great reasong to have Jensen and Jared sleep over. She said that as their mom she'd have to have them sleep in the trundle beds.

Misha
Today Misha was rocking the button down shirt/vest/tie combo. It was so funny that there were some roads he didn't go down "because it is Sunday." One lady pointed out that Sunday isn't holy if you're Jewish and the place cracked up.

I really liked that though it was still fun and funny, Misha answered more questions seriously today. Someone asked a very good question about peace vs. freedom - wanting to know if Castiel would regret his loss of freedom when he reverted to angel status at the end of the finale. Misha said that he felt Castiel would feel even more duty bound to God after being reconstituted (again) - proof that God was on the boy's side.

Someone asked about the difficulty of eating on screen. Misha got into trouble talking about "masticating" and "dreading swallowing". Hee!

Part of his problem is that he doesn't go about the eating scenes half-assed so he ends up with so much food in his mouth. He said Jensen's a pro at fake eating because as Dean he has to eat so much. At times Jensen will give Misha's hand a slap to prevent him from taking another bite because Jensen has a good feel for the timing of when a scene will end and how to get away with not eating any more.

Misha claims to be very disappointed that Casstiel was not in the episode Jensen directed because "I was hoping to fuck with him."

Misha got into a little trouble with the swallowing from one question so another girl gets up and says, "I have a question that's not about porn."
Misha says, "Next!" and turns away.
She says, "I can make it about porn."
Misha challenges, "Okay."
She responds, "Do you prefer to spit or swallow?"
*and the crowd goes wild*
*Misha gets up and starts looking at papers at the podium. Then he goes back to his seat*
Misha - "You should get an award for just asking that question. Just by asking that question you have won. I can't out-clever it. I will humbly accept defeat."

I honestly can't even remember her "real" question at this point.

Someone asked about Destial which elicited a huge groan from the audience and Misha side-stepped the question. Can't answer that, it's Sunday.

One of the ladies got up to the mike and threw her friend under the bus using her as an example of having a "useless" skill. Her friend does a mean Alistair impersonation. Misha comes off stage with the microphone to have her do the impression. This made for much glee in the row behind us because that's where he ended up standing. That POOR GIRL was completely mortified. And after about five minutes of "encouragement" from the audience she squeaked out a "Hello Dean" but that was after she said to Misha (after being in his shoes) "I feel so sorry for you." No one likes being a dancing monkey.

Those are the highlights! We didn't stay for Rob because he was so late in the day and Ryn had to do some traveling to get home. Who's looking forward to Parsippany 2011?!

vacation, parsippany
