Awww sweetie. Unfortunately old age creeping up happens to the best of us eh?

You are so lovely for helping them out and it shows what a great person you are that this MEANS so much to you. You have a big heart honey.

*Cuddles you and Jeanne tightly*

Man, I'm tired just reading about all the work you did!

I try not to think about the whole parents getting older thing...just makes me feel that much older and I don't need any of that! Reality? Who needs it?

Oh, and THANK YOU for the cut. It's much appreciated, truly. I never understood why people didn't use one...it's the nice thing to do and how hard is it to click on a cut to read something?!?!

I'm tired from re-reading about all the work we did *g* - and now I'm going back for more. Today shouldn't involve nearly the amount of moving as yesterday. Today should be more about packing; I can handle that.

I'm exhausted just reading about all that work!

Dang!

I know what you mean about parents. I remember looking at my mom one day and thinking, When did she get old? It just hit me all of a sudden, out of the blue. And then I recalled that line from "Roseanne"--"I don't want you to get old because you're just dragging me along with you!"

The parents have been getting old...but this move has really been eye-opening. Plus, they're moving 2 miles down the road from Jeanne and me - that's some forward thinking there. It's time for them to start leaning on us, which is fine - it'll just take some getting used to.

Yeah. I just...never thought of my parents as old. Old-er, but not old. And it really snuck up on me that one day.

My parents are all the way over in AZ and so far, they are doing well physcially. There are the usual health things associated with age, but they are still mobile and active and able to do their own thing. But I do worry about the day when they won't be able to and what I'll do then.

In regard to throwing out a lot of stuff that's still in good shape: You may want to look into joining your local Freecycle group (www.freecycle.org). You find your local group, subscribe to its Yahoo! group, and then post when you have an item that you're ready to get rid of. If someone wants it, they email you, you arrange a pickup time/place, and voila! It's gone. General rules are that the the poster can't charge for the item and the person who takes the item can't intend to sell it (i.e., post it on eBay) and must intend to use it rather than throw it away. The purpose is to keep as much useful stuff as possible out of the landfill ( ... )

My sister Ryn signed up for Freecycle, but didn't do it soon enough to post in enough time to get rid of stuff. The move date just seemed to sneak up on us. But, we'll know better for next time.

I imagine all sorts of scenarios even though their close by - it's the curse of an overactive imagination.
