Update

I haven't been around much recently. For anyone who may have wondered what I was up to, here it is.

Firstly, I moved out of my house on 14 May so repairs could be done, and was due to move back in on 8 June. Yeah, that didn't happen. The official date for moving back in is now 1 July, so I'm still living with the parents. Which is nice, in that I get a meal cooked for me when I get home, but not so nice in that there is only so much Antiques Roadshow I can watch before I go insane!

Why the change of date, you ask? Well, they emailed me a week before I was due to move back in to say they had found the floor was a bit wet, so upon investigating they found it was really wet under the floor, and it was growing mould. So they had to suck out the water and liquifaction, dry it out, and remove the mould. All of this before any actual work could be done inside the house. My question was, why they were surprised by this? I had a well open up under my house. The EQC payed to have a plumber come and cap it. When they came to scope the work for my house I pointed this out to them and made them look under the house. So how is it possible they didn't know it was wet under there?!

Second thing is, my parents have sold there house. Yes, that's right, the house I am currently residing in. They have purchased a new, smaller, house with less ground. They purchased the house 10 years ago for $109,000. They sold it for $370,000. Actually, selling the house was easy because the housing market here is insane at the moment. Thousands of people have lost their homes, need new ones, and houses in good areas (good defined as not too earthquake prone) are in demand. My parents had barely mentioned that they were thinking of selling their house before the real estate agent was around and had people offering to buy. So the house has sold and moving out day is 1 July. And if you've been paying attention, then yes, that is the date I am due to move back to my house as well. Busy day.

The third thing that has just come along is a letter from the Ministry of Justice officially requiring my presence for jury service. Oh joy. I so do not want to do that. I have asked work to try and get me out of it because they are requiring me for the week starting 29 July, which is one of the busiest weeks in the year at work.

So that's some of what's up with me.
