Under the Big Top

Action-packed weekend! On Friday night, we saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show at our local theatre, along with our next door neighbors. S had costumed the show and she did a fantastic job. It was actually very well done and a lot of fun (I say 'actually' because most of the shows at this particular theatre aren't very good). Of course, there were audience members calling out the lines which was both annoying and amusing at times, but no Rocky experience is complete without it. Overall, a fun experience, and yes, we did the Time Warp :)

On Saturday, we attended DC's Protest against Prop 8. We found parking just as the march began and met up with our friend, L. The sky was cloudy but the weather was very warm and we were surrounded by thousands of people marching and chanting. About 20 minutes later, the sky broke open and drenched us all with a quick, but powerful storm. Then the sun come out again and we managed to dry off a little and continued to march on from the Capitol to the White House. The rain was on and off and stayed light the rest of the time and I think the march was very successful. It was cool to know that we were doing it with the rest of the nation at the same time, in unity against discrimination. We stopped by Hello Cupcake in Dupont to reward ourselves before going home.

Yesterday we saw Cirque du Soleil at the National Harbor. The show was great- we were both impressed, especially by the second half. Afterwards, we did some shopping and then had dinner at Moon Bay Coastal Cuisine inside the Gaylord Hotel. The food was alright and the place had a nice ambiance, though I'm not sure we'd dine there again. At the end of our meal, we were entertained by a fountain in the hotel that danced to music. Then we went home and passed out.
