After the storm

I'm happy "Hannah" didn't stick around all weekend (mostly just Saturday afternoon). Friday night S & I went to Alexandria and had dinner at a semi-new French place called Le Pain Quotidien. Yummy food, bread, and pastries. We actually planned on going to one of the 2 cupcake places nearby for dessert, but both were closed (one having run out of cupcakes). Oh well :(

On Saturday, we stayed in while it poured outside. We watched the movie The Queen, with Helen Mirren. It was very good, although it would help to be interested in British government and/or the situation surrounding the death of Princess Diana. Just when our stir-craziness was reaching its boiling point, the rain stopped and we drove out to NoVA to have dinner with S's parents at the Lebanese Taverna. The meal was great, and we did some window-shopping at Tyson's Corner afterwards.

Sunday was a gorgeous day. We went to our local farmer's market and also dropped by the 'pooch plunge'...before they empty the neighborhood pool, they invite everyone to bring their dogs for a swim. We did not subject Hazel to such torture, but went to see some friends and their dogs swim. Quite entertaining. Then S, Hazel, and I drove up to Sugarloaf Mountain to have a picnic and do a little mountain climbing. We all made it to the top (Hazel did a great job!) and enjoyed the view before heading back home to relax the rest of our Sunday.
