It's going...

Day one of construction:

1. Contractors showed up at 7:30 on the dot. We were still scrambling to get dressed, but hey, at least they're punctual.

2. They called me at work at 11:30am saying they're done for the day. The wall has been demolished. They didn't realize just how many more wires were inside the wall. Electrical stuff will take place tomorrow.

3. I came home at lunch to find the wall is at it should be (hurrah!) and there is a fine coating of dust on EVERYTHING. Thankfully all upstairs doors were closed because the dust made its way up there, too. We have a lot of cleaning to do when this is finished.

4. After work, S & I met at Home Depot to purchase the floor. There we had to practically BEG people to help us with the flooring, which they didn't, so we had to load 16 boxes of it onto a cart ourselves. Thanks. A lot.

5. We had to buy the materials and put them on hold for the contractors to pick up tomorrow. We are short 3 shoe mouldings and they didn't have the underlayment we wanted, but we made do and will pick up the rest of the mouldings at another Home Depot tomorrow. S had to run to a voice lesson leaving me to pay and of course, their registers were down. So I waited there for nearly 45 minutes before a successful purchase was made. ARGH!!!

6. The flooring cost a couple hundred more than we planned. Sigh.

End Day 1. Boy I love this stuff.
