Modern stone-age family

So this weekend felt very much like Halloween, despite Halloween not happening until Wednesday. Our costumes were ready and we were prepared to party!

On Friday night, we dressed up for a night on the town.

Drumroll please!

Flinstones, meet the Flinstones! Ok, meet two of the Flinstones, Wilma and Betty (who as of Friday night, became my Flinstone wifey)

Betcha didn't know Wilma was so short in real life ;)

And Betty was a real looker!

And uh...well, the Flinstones got friendly, but for decency's sake, I'll just crop out what's happening below...

That evening we went out to Bebar in DC. We met up with our friends A+E who were dressed as an 80's hooker and a church lady (i.e. "Lady and the Tramp") The atmosphere was nice when we got there...a large handful of people, almost everyone in costume, lots of friendly faces and room to sit and talk. We got drinks, took some pictures (not with my camera though), chatted, and then got on the dance floor for about a half hour. While we were on the dance floor, 4 guys dressed like Christina Aguilera and other pop princesses did a little dance performance to "Lady Marmalade"...quite amusing. But by the time we got off the dance floor, the club was so packed you could hardly move, and 75% of the people there were part of a private party that rented out half the club and weren't into the whole Halloween thing. So the atmosphere was entirely different from the beginning of the night, which saddened us so we left shortly thereafter. From there, S & I went to Annie's Steakhouse for a quick, fried bite to eat, and then home. Still, it had been a pretty fun evening.

The next day, we had a lovely, lazy Saturday for the most part. We did start tearing up part of the floor though...ripping the carpet tack strips out from under the carpet in order to prepare it for the upcoming pergo transplant. We finally got a great quote from a constractor and are ready to sign the papers and get started (after our co-op approves). We're really excited. S made a batch of cupcakes for a potluck house party that evening, and I heated up meatballs in the crock-pot to bring. We dressed up again and joined a small crowd of people for a lovely evening.

Wine and cupcakes, couldn't ask for more ;)

Except maybe Betty serving!

On Sunday, we went out for bagels and then for pumpkins. I happened to pick one of the biggest pumpkins on the lot, a 20 pounder :) Someone commented when we were leaving that it was bigger than me. lol. We brought them back to the house for carving.

S chose a long, narrow pumpkin and was not too happy about how thick it was

I, on the other hand, am not too happy about the pumpkin guts

S carved an owl or a spooky face, however you see it

I made a pirate

We also bought a big orange mum

Later in the afternoon, we stopped by a friend's house party where I got to try out a chocolate fountain for the first time. We dipped all sorts of things...pineapple, animal crackers, cranberries, marshallows, strawberries, pretzels, even pieces of lime. A sweet end to the weekend.
