City of Strangers

We went to New York this weekend...

On the drive up, we stopped in Montclair, NJ where a friend of mine from high school lives (along with her boyfriend who also went to high school with me...we just weren't in the same social group back then). They cooked us a 3-course dinner that was delicious. After stuffing ourselves, we relaxed with coffee, dessert, and a trip down memory lane (old high school pictures). It was a really nice time. We made it to our hotel on Long Island at midnight and crashed.

Hazel crashes

The next morning, S and I drove around looking for a place we could get New York bagels at. Success, yummy. We then drove to her aunt and uncle's house. We chatted for a bit and dropped by their next door neighbor's house so Hazel could meet another chihuahua. Alas, there was also a crazy poodle present.

And then the torture ensues

Later, S's cousin also joined us and we went to Greenwich Village for much walking and shopping. As luck would have it, we parked directly outside a Chocolate restaurant. Seriously, check out the menus. It's a dream come true.

If everything he makes is as good as his chocolate, I will eat many a thing by the bald man.

Inside, there were pipes tempuring the chocolate. I'd like these installed in our house.

We also walked by an automat. I didn't even know what it was, but apparently you can get cheap, hot food. We did not however.

The uncle did not come with us on our trip. This is what he and Hazel did.

That evening, we ate at some Turkish restaurant which was really good because actual Turkish people made the food :)

I'll have to post about the next day tomorrow because it's getting late and work is still kickin' my butt. sigh.

hazel, travel, family, food, get togethers
