A man, a mouse and a dream

Apr 24, 2007 14:03

Just booked our yearly Florida trip- June 30 through July 4. Home in time for fireworks. Yes, we're going to FL in the dead of summer. I'm seeing the beach, the pool, and a spinning dance floor. And Mickey Mouse.

Oh, and today's issue of my school's newspaper had an insert showing everyone's salaries. Totally strange.

travel, work

I was so surprised! I couldn't imagine that being done at other companies- the sh*t would really hit the fan.

Yes, exactly. I was just imagining that being done at say, my previous company. It's interesting that it has to happen at some places (because they're government) but not others.

I work for a hospital system and they do that with the top executives as well as the top executives from the university that we are associated with. That's always fun to see! I'm glad that they don't post everyone's salaries though!

Yeah, they posted everyone's no matter how big or small, plus the top 15 money makers. Is seeing that someone makes $400,000 a year supposed to make me feel good?? :P

You are most welcome to partake in some time on our beach. Yes, OUR beach ;) We live 4 houses away and you are most welcome to use us for our location. Lunch/dinner optional pending your time restraints. We'd love to have you (visit, that is, not for dinner literally haha)! Yes, I'm in one of those moods.

I think we'll be glad to take you up on your offer- thank you! We can be more in touch about it as the trip gets closer. Exciting!!

Hehehe! They did that at my school too. People who had been here less than five years were making twice as much as those who had been here twenty. It was pretty difficult for the administration to get stuff done around campus for a few weeks afterwards. Yours will probably be different, though.

Yay for Florida! Um, but I thought redheads didn't do well in the sun?

So far everyone's been "mum" so I don't think I'll be seeing a stir. But it was really strange to be able to see what my coworkers are making (and know they can see what I make). I'm ok salary-wise though, so it's not a big deal (at least, not right now!)

No, redheads do not do well in the sun, which is why SPF 30 (or 45 in Florida) is a staple for me in summer months.

I bet! At least 35 for you. On the other hand, should you need to escape, all that slippery lotion could come in handy. :)

One of the dance clubs in Pleasure Island- Mannequins. The dance floor spins (pretty fast, too!) and every now and then they blast the floor with cold carbon dioxide to cool off the dancing people :)
