Snow bunnies

Happy Easter to the Easter-celebrating folks out there. I've decided to recap my weekend now since I'll be in an all-day new employee orientation both tomorrow and Friday and thus, not sitting in front of a computer 8 hours a day.

On Friday evening, we rested. The night culminated in S finishing re-reading Harry Potter book 5 and me writing a short story while we sat together on the couch. Very exciting.

On Saturday, we woke up to snow as expected. Only just over an inch, but we decided to go see the cherry blossoms in DC because how often does one get to see cherry blossoms covered in snow? As it turned out, DC, being a city, got less snow than us and most of it was melted when we got there. Oh well. We got warm beverages after, and spent an hour in a really awesome furniture store called "Reincarnations." Later on, we met S's parents at White Flint for dinner at PF Chang's.

Today we went back to DC to the National Museum of Women in the Arts to see an exhibit on women painters from Renaissance to Baroque. The museum was fairly small and easily done in less than 2 hours. Since one entire floor was dedicated to the exhibit, the amount of more modern art was limited. I like modern art because you never know what you're going to get, but the paintings were very nice.

Since one doesn't usually see flowers covered in snow in these parts...

Not many blossoms left on some of the cherry trees :(

And it was damn cold out!

On the way home, this just made me chuckle

Some favorites from the museum

The woman in this portrait is Brutus's wife, harming herself to show Brutus that he can trust her and tell her about the plot to assassinate Caesar

The painting depicted turmoil during WWII

This one is of a picnic in the park after the end of the civil war

And finally, lace art or vajayjay? You decide.
