Making martinis and art

Weekend Update

Friday night we went to our local cafe to meet up with our Greenbelt Pride friends. It was a pretty big night and we had maybe 12-14 people there. I caught up with a couple friends I hadn't talked to in a while and S & I shared a piece of apple pie a la mode.

Saturday we drove to NoVa to get haircuts. I'm happy my layers are back. I kept having S cut the length as it grew until all the layers were eventually grown out. Then we grabbed some thai food for lunch with r_is_for_rose. Later, we hung out at home for a couple hours before going to ptpgrad's house for a martini party. She had pretty much every kind of liquor imaginable. I chose godiva, chocolate vodka, and buttershots to make my candy bar-like martini. A nice, quaint group of 8 people were there. We ended the night with a drunken game of Cranium, which is usually difficult enough when you're sober. You can imagine what the room looked like when someone pulled an "Everyone" card and all 4 teams had to do chirades to represent the word "Missionaries."

On Sunday, I went with my friend C to attend a glass jewelry-making class. We were the only two there, which made for good personal attention and a quicker session. It was really neat making our own personalized glass pendants. The instructor had all kinds of stamps for cutting out shapes like leaves, stars, and animals from gold leaf and copper sheets. She also had broken-up pieces of dichroic and iridescent glass, as well as spaghetti-like strands of glass which we melted into squiggly shapes using tea lights. It was completely new and just really cool. We pick up our pieces on Tuesday night so I'll make sure to share pictures of my creations.

That evening, S & I watched the Superbowl all snuggled up on the couch. It was a pretty exciting game even though I didn't care who won. Did everyone see that Snickers commercial though?? lol
