A muppet purse will cost you

It's been a long time since we've gone shopping at a mall, so last night we ventured forth to Arundel Mills. It was a fairly successful trip, but oh,

Here are a few gems:

Neiman Marcus "last chance" outlet
My thoughts: It was like the most expensive yard sale EVER. I actually thought we could afford this marked down stuff, but nooo. S picked up a purse that I thought looked like a grade schooler's art project and my jaw hit the floor when I saw that it had been marked down from $1200 to $925. That's a cruise to Alaska, people! That's groceries for a year!
S's thoughts: Ooooh...shiny!

Petite Sophisticate
Didn't this chain close? Apparently not...some corporation bought another corporation, blah blah...and all the Petite Sophisticate Outlet stores are now being reopened. In the DC metro area, that means Arundel Mills, Potomac Mills, and White Marsh. S bought a shirt for work. I wondered why velour outfits are in style.

GAP
Most stuff was 20-50% off. I bought a sweater for $15. When at the register, the guy helping me said "You can't come to the register with only one item!" I said it was really all I wanted. He continued on with "didn't I want to buy some chapstick?" What about for my sister (motioning to S)? "My sister?" I said shaking my head. "My wife." He smiled and continued to try to get us to buy chapstick. As we were leaving, S said she'd like to try whatever happy pills he was taking.

Clarks
I tried on at least 20 pairs of shoes (I really like Clarks). I bought a new pair of European-style black shoes for $40. S continued looking at purses and went to the store across from Clarks and bought a little reddish purse for $12. I feel relief that she didn't buy the big purple one with the silver chain strap she was looking at earlier.

Kenneth Cole
My thoughts: Again, can we even afford one thing at this store?
S's thoughts: Ooooh....shoes!!!

Funny, these days I always feel the desire to run screaming after about an hour at the mall.
