i've never been a big fan of making new year's resolutions for one reason: why wait for the start of a new year to make a significant change in your life? i understand that for many people, the new year represents the beginning of a new era (or sorts), and therefore, it's a good time to make some major changes in their lives. i've always rejected this argument, though. new year's is just like any other day, really, and i've never seen what's so special about it in this regard. also, why wait for new year's? isn't today as good as any day to start leading a new life?
i have broken from my usual beliefs on the subject, however, just for this one time. my resolution is nothing big or special (if anything, it's a little pathetic). for 2008, i resolve to.....*drumroll please*.....update my livejournal more often. yes, i know it sounds stupid and pointless, but it's something that i haven't been able to do in the past, and its kinda fun to look back on at your journal and read about the things that you thought were important. if you haven't done it, do it now. it'll remind you of so many forgotten memories, and it's just hilarious to see how immature you used to be (in my case, at least). anyway, that's my new year's resolution. what that means for all of you guys is that you'll be seeing a lot more of my posts in the future.
i've been reflecting a bit on 2007 today while i was skiing at mt. bachelor (quite the way to end the year!), and i realized just how incredible this year has been. i graduated from high school, traveled to brazil, and lived abroad in london for a semester in college, just to name 3 highlights. i also started college and didn't fail my first semester, i drank a lot in london, i skied in colorado for the first time, and i became an independent human being for the first time in my life. if possible, i hope 2008 can be even better than 2007 was.
happy new year's everyone!
