So far i've been keeping to my 'one post every 2/3 days, but not more' motto, but i've decided to start writing posts dedicated to my friends on their birthdays. Just to tell the world and keep a personal record of how they've affected my life thus far - like a tribute to them for being part of my life. And a birthday present coz time is a more valuable gift than money, of which i have a very limited supply. Let's see if i can keep this up for at least a year...
It's
Zara's birthday today! I only thought about doing this today, and i'm thinking it just shows how much i associate her with the Internet/blog world. Yep, she's the first person i knew to design her own
website, back in high school when i had little interest in or knowledge about this other universe. I remember sitting in her house and looking over her shoulder, realizing that it had never occurred to me that there are people behind webpages. I still rate her
designs highly, even though she uses frames and frontpage.
Besides being responsible for the livejournal version of this site, she's also the one who got me bobbing along to the Arctic Monkeys. The first time was when she convinced me to go with her to Newcastle, where i was also introduced to Travelodge and the interesting but fortunately entirely unfounded theory that tapioca is made of fish eyes.
I love downloading and listening to the songs Zara shares on the web; even though i can't say i like a lot of them, i'm grateful to her for bothering to educate me in the realm of beatles-esque music. If there's one thing you can't avoid knowing about this girl, it's that she's passionate about her beatles. I wouldn't be surprised if she could recite any number of
these facts about them, or rattle off a complete list of all the songs they ever wrote, in chronological order.
There's an awful lot i could say about Z really. How she's super-intelligent, does brilliant accents and is a lot of fun to hang around with, if you can understand her humour. How much i appreciate her tireless efforts to involve me in her nights out at the garage/attic and random nights in, even though we don't hang that often. How she sends me pictures and music on msn whenever i'm around. How she's "come out of her shell" since she left school, and how she was able to get a job at Borders without any experience. How she gets good grades without even trying and knows so much about everything. Her boundless creativity. How she throws herself into whatever interests her apart from the Beatles - Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Who, Willy Mason... What can i say really, she's just brilliant.
So yeh, Happy Birthday =) Present's coming.... soon. I still owe Laura one, haha.
Geez, that was harder than i thought it would be!
