One of my pet peeves when reading Plato is that whenever Socrates says something, the person he talks to is always, "Yes, absolutely, you're entirely right, I'm completely convinced!" They hardly ever contribute anything or disagree or argue. All Socrates/Plato has to do is ask a question and the person he's talking to immediately succumbs to his brilliance with only one line of "Of course," after each question.
Does anyone get my annoyance?
I know Plato and Socrates were smart guys, but it just pisses me off. I wish Plato would just write, "I think this," instead of making me go through pages and pages of roundabout talking and "I totally agrees."
I thought we were supposed to read Crito for tomorrow and it turned out we were supposed to read Phaedo, which is long as hell and seems to be mostly about the soul, life coming from death and the ideal forms. I'm bored.
Many pissed off groans of pain.
