well, both Bleach and Gintama being absent is surprising.
Beelzebub: it has really risen
Shokugeki no Soma: let the Double Arts begin :D
there is nothing particularly unusual about the bottom 5, although I would like to see Hungry Joker higher.

Not that I think SnS will pull a double arts, though.

On a related note, I do wish Jump had a slot for manga that is only PLANNED to last for 26 chapters or something like that. A slot that something really good can be put in and when it's done it's done and ending after 26 chapters wouldn't look as bad. Hell even a 3-5 chapter slot...

The short story slot is totally a thing I wish existed again. So many old Jump manga are three or so weeks long, like Rickshaw Man and stuff, and Koganeiro revived that spirit (suitably for a bit of WSJ propaganda, to be in the classic vein as such). It'd mean we'd get a lot more relaxed short titles, that just focus on telling a complete tale. The 2/3 volume initial stories things like Buso Renkin or Bleach had that give the feel of an almost complete product are cool, and it'd be nice to see some of those that actually roll with that and give complete closure, eh

As for Koganeiro, perhaps it was due to the nature of the translation I read but I never got the Jump Propaganda bit. Sure the bloke wanted to be an editor for a magazine... and Jump was a bit awkwardly forced in there but it didn't give off the propaganda vibe to me. Or no where NEAR as much as certain parts of Bakuman.
And yeah, I think there are many advantages to having a slot meant for shorter stories. It would be a better tool imo for Jump to develop both younger artists as well as giving a venue for older ones (like Toriyama) to be featured.
Don't see that happening with Jump, unfortunately. The magazine, while I love it does a lot of things I disagree with. (though it also does a lot of things I like)
