I have been anxiously awaiting word from the Memphis cousins as to how the dinner / get together in Hammond went. I was curious as to who managed to show up, and what was cooked or brought. What I have read so far sure sounds interesting and I so wish that I could have been there.
I did a monster work out yesterday evening. I would climb on the eliptical machine and get my heart rate upwards of 145 bpm, then slow down and it would drop quickly to 110 bpm. I kept that up for an hour, including lifting weights. All the while listening to some really good Rock n Roll. I have a bunch of good old guitar rock, so I was listening to all sorts of stuff, Styx, Stones, Deep Purple, Journey, Santana etc. All culminated in a 12 minute live version of Lynard Skynards' Freebird. I was actually so high on the endorphins and music that at the end of 'Freebird', I threw my hands up like Rocky when he reached the top of the stairs. A little embarassing, so I quickly looked around to see if there was anybody else in there, and there was not, thank the Lord. Anyway, it was fun.
I have been combining exercise and diet and have lost over 2 kilos in the past week. I certainly hope I can keep it up as a significant weight loss by the time I return home at the end of the month will mean that I will have enough motivation to maintain it even in the land of Fuddruckers and What-a-Burger. The diet part is easy, just get assigned to a 'reverse' prison. I call it reverse because it has chain link fencing, concertina wire and gaurds that walk the perimeter 24x7. There is only one entrance / exit and it is also well gaurded. All of this security is not to keep us in, but the locals out who think that we might have something good in here. It certainly is not the food. That part is steadily getting worse. For example, last night, after my monster work out, all that I could find to eat was a bowl of green salad and four baked 'Krab' claws. Stuff made out of parts of Haddock & polluck. That was it. OH, well. I don't come here for the cuisine!
