Abilities: Craig can sense and influence gravitational fields; he "sees" the lines of force caused by the presence of mass, and is capable of manipulating them. At the present time his abilities are erratic and largely unconscious. If he's in a good mood everything will be literally a little lighter, whereas when he starts brooding everyone nearby will start to feel an oppressive weight pressing down on them...

Another side effect which he hasn't actually noticed yet is that he has a preternaturally excellent sense of balance; he tends to unconsciously compensate by shifting his centre of gravity when by rights he should be falling over.

Personality: At first glance Craig is a typical teenage boy. He likes football (or soccer as everyone in his new homeland insists on calling it), sports cars, and convincing his of-age stepbrother to buy him alcohol. He's easygoing, not really taking anything very seriously (except football), and has a smart-arse remark to suit every situation. Big mouth aside he's otherwise fairly sensible. He doesn't tend to get into trouble...unless he's pretty certain he won't get caught.

Though he can be surprisingly studious, it's only in subjects that interest him; he has difficulty making himself put effort into anything he doesn't particularly care about. He finds that his definition of what is worthwhile and interesting frequently differs from that of his teachers, mother, and generally every other adult in his life. He's got used to being a disappointment. Responsibility of any sort is something he will avoid at all costs; he's happiest when left to his own devices, able to do whatever and go wherever he pleases without fear of letting others down.

He's a bit of a dreamer. At any given moment only a tiny fraction of his attention will be on the here and now; the rest will be far away. These thought processes - completely disconnected from whatever the current conversation or situation may be - often lead to apparent non-sequiturs as some secondary or tertiary thought process clicks into place in the back of his head, generally to the bewilderment of whoever he's talking to at the time.

History: Craig was the first and only child of David and Lydia Erskine, a welder in the Clydeside shipyards and a less-than-contented housewife respectively. He grew up in the Partick area of Glasgow, attending the local primary and later high school, and generally had a fairly unremarkable childhood.

When he was thirteen his father died in an accident at the yard. The extended family did their best to be supportive, but with nothing really left to keep her there, Lydia took her adolescent son and moved back in with her relatives back in Boston. Craig coped as well as could be expected for having just been taken away from all his friends and everything he knew, but for a very long time he was angry at his mother and openly admitted he would have preferred to stay at home with his family on his father's side.

He was even less impressed when, a few years later, his mother remarried. The blow was softened slightly by the fact that he was already on friendly terms with his new stepbrother, Evan, but he and his stepfather never managed to be anything more than tersely civil to one another. And then only for Lydia's sake. Around a year later baby Lucy was born, and the patchwork little family unit were well and truly stuck with one another.

That is, until one fateful night not long after his eighteenth birthday when Craig was caught sneaking back into the house well after curfew. The ensuing argument turned very ugly very quickly and ended with the garage adjoining the house a pile of rubble, Craig utterly bewildered as to how but knowing he had caused it, and his furious and terrified stepfather ordering him out from under his roof.

Lost and drifting, he was taken in by Evan, who had gone away to study at Columbia in NYC. Ever since he's been sleeping on his stepbrother's sofa, working part time in a gas station to earn his keep, and generally trying to work out what the fuck he's going to do next.
