To Kill a Mockingbird by
Harper Lee My rating:
5 of 5 starsA lovely book with a sad theme of apartheid in the deep south of America in the 1930's. The characters of this book were well written and lovely. I thought I might get bored by a 'classic' as I know people who studied this book at school and it put them right off - but I througouhly enjoyed it.
This was a WI BookClub read borrowed from the library, and all the members had the same opinion that this was a great story with larger than life characters and a great glimpse into their lives. We all had different favourite characters who appealed to us. One of the ladies took a while to realise 'Scout' was a girl, and we all thought Boo was a lovely character who watched over the neighbours children but had far too over protective parents - I just had the Boo Radley's song wake up boo going through my head the whole time I was reading about boo!
