Drive-By Updating

Saturday
Can you say "Nesting"? Did some serious house-related stuff. You know those Crisis-Cleaning-Bags; you know, the bags you shove all the paperwork into when people are coming over so they don't think you're a total slob? I cleaned one of those puppies out. And you know what I found? I found that my vehicle registration expired 11/30 (and Saturday was Dec 2nd!) Doh! So I renewed online. I also found that Geico did not have my new address. So I updated that, too. And my back didn't kill me at the end of the day!

Sunday
Lamaze Class.

It was better than expected. For those of you who don't know, I had Damian333 at home; yes, it was planned. So to me, "learning to breathe" during labor is the modern equivalent to "Duck and Cover"; it only give one the illusion of doing something that makes a difference but in reality you're going to wish you were dead if you actually live through it.

I went into the class with a "I hope they give me an epidural in the parking lot" mentality. Now I'm somewhere in the middle. I know what to expect this time. I'm not 22 anymore (and my body reminds me of that every day.) And I learned more practical techniques. We'll see.

Monday
Tracy is in Iowa for training on our software. Which leaves me alone with Lori. All week.

Tuesday
Good News! Lori wasn't feeling well, so she was actaul *gasp* quiet most of the day! She even left for a few hours to go to the doctor. Alas, she is sick, but it's only a UTI so nothing major (or contagious).

We went for a tour of the Maternity Ward at Fairfax Hospital. I highly highly recommned this tour for expectant couples. Unless you actually want to see any of the rooms you'll be laboring in. You see, there are around 11,000 births at that hospital which works out to just over 30 births a day. So naturally all of the rooms were full. But I did learn some useful information, such as I need to bring my own birthing ball along with a note from my doctor saying I can use it. One can only presume someone sued INOVA at one point or another over some tragic birthing ball accident so now I need a note. Sheesh.

Then we went by Luce's for a PartyLite party. jurgenzuvols was the token male; even Miles was downstairs hiding away. But who is going to let their boyfriend keep them away from a social event that combines champagne (or sparkling grape juice in my case), chocolate, candles AND shopping? I was even able to keep from buying things for myself and got gifts for my mom, sister and niece. After the baby is born I may seriously consider being a consultant again. The money is great, I get to meet good peeps, and I can support my wax habit. duchessmel is hoping I decide in favor of signing up again by March 31 so she can get closer to her goal of going to Cabo San Lucas for free! And I can perhaps earn a trip for me and Jeff, too!

Wednesday
Lori was feeling better. At least she was feeling more talkative. Greaaat.
