aha, arrived in Sydney and have settled in. In record time. Have a new phone and flat, a little economy unit by the university, not far from the city.

very long flight. super cramped economy seats, I was sittling betwee two mountaineers, it turned out, one ex professional basketball player. He was so big, I could hardly grudge hime taking up my elbow space, as I am sure, he was 2x as cramped as I was, not too mention he was super nice and we all ended up chatting about mountaineering by morning.

Then rather went down town, after getting lost several times, and stuck at the toll with no cash. Finding a bank I remembered and getting some help, armed with a sunday paper and new prepay phone, found a flat by mid afternoon. Quite lucky I spose. But persistence, and having advice on where to look, and taking the time to research areas that might work for work and school, paid off. I was about to give up and call it a day, after the first place I was so tired from travel, but kept at it. Oh, also got a gps, which some nice people I ran into, helped me find, well rather like they said, everyone knew where to go. And after several rounds the city, found it and was back on track. Not to mention the normal hullabuh-loo.

ps- wots a hullabuh-loo?

ppss--also very tempted to drive out and see if a friend I lost contack with was about, but feeling not too sure on if I should or not.
