¡por harry potter... el niño que vivió!
Things have been really crazy lately. Since my last entry I've written and subsequently abandoned two ridiculously long posts, probably because I'm too stricken with self-doubt to actually own up to anything I write these days. I seem to have slunk back into the depths of lurkdom, and while it is warm and comfy and smells of hot cocoa here, I feel aklsdna;sldka;ldm SO LAME about it. It's like, GABI. YOU SPENT AN HOUR WRITING THIS HONEST & TIMELY & WELL-THOUGHT OUT MEGAESSAY ON BOYCOTTING PROBLEMATIC MEDIA. You have questions that need answers and you want people's opinions on this topic so desperately that you were willing to spell check the thing four goddamn times. And yet.
OK. I will make this update as simplistic as possible in the hopes that this entry might actually see the light of day.
1) I've been reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone en Español for hp_commonroom and THE NOSTALGIA, ME ESTA MATANDO
2) OK I suppose I shouldn't blame my absence from LJ entirely on crippling self-doubt. I also have a job! A real one! I currently work full-time as a teacher at a USC-hosted summer camp for at-risk children and youth. Our curriculum focuses on the skills of peacemaking, conflict resolution, and socially conscious thinking. It's basically a hippie's wet dream: meditation, yoga, service projects and vegetarian meals are all part of a day's agenda. I ABSOLUTELY LURVE IT and I adore my little campers so much! But working with small, behaviorally-challenged children all day long is exhausting, and I don't have time/energy for much else.
3) Disneyland/CA Adventure with Kimmy/Julian/Lauren/Alex was AMAZING and viewing World of Color from the fucking water's edge was one of the coolest experiences of my life. Photos (hopefully!) to come.
4) I turn 21 on Thursday huh whaaa? Wine tasting in Sonoma with Tenaya and Beth and Momma Gabi this Friday! And then Lauren's wedding on Saturday! Yayaaaa
