me, katie, carrie, izzy, nora and claire all went to her open studio in the mission. it was so nice. it was cold and cloudy and we walked to harrison st from dolores park.
all the artists were inspiring and made me so jealous that they could make a home in these tiny little studios and just make art all day. they were so sweet.
sabrina was beautiful, she was just as messy and womanly and true as i imagined. it must be difficult to see, in person, the people who are basically reading your diary. she said she loved my outfit and i thanked her for letting us into her studio, and told her her work was amazing. she has the best eyes.
my favorite piece was a few feet square, it was a picture of a woman who had the best look of extasy and joy on her face, and around her were these wings, one side of wire and i forget about the other. it was mostly collaged, with ink and paint and it just looked THICK and messy and layered and there was this absolute JOY about it.
thank you, swh
