I have a backlog of links to various news stories, videos, and other miscellanea that variously hit my "Shiny!" button. I had intended to get them wrangled into shape and finally post them. Oh lol, a school official gave a speech at my sister's graduation that was pretty much this story, including the moral at the end word for word. And here I thought he's written it himself.

I think that the important take-away here is that the children noticed. One can infer that our tendancy to tune out greatness in a common setting is LEARNED BEHAVIOUR. Which means that we can un-learn it, if we choose to.

In T.O. our transit system encourages musicians to play in the tunnels. Artists bid for prime locations. Over the years, I have seen the same shamasin player in almost every station on the main lines. His music is heartbreaking and it stops me every. single. damn. time. I think that he knows me now because he smiles whenever I show up...
