ardaniel subtly suggested I do this, possibly so she might have something to read between bouts of boredom during her trial.

Think of 15 albums that had such a profound effect on you they changed your life or the way you looked at it. They sucked you in and took you over for days, weeks, months, years. These are the albums that you can use to identify time, places, people, emotions. These are the albums that no matter what they were thought of musically shaped your world.

not in order

1. "Momentary Lapse of Reason" - Pink Floyd
2. "Frampton Comes Alive!" - Peter Frampton
3. "Greatest Hits 1974-1978" - Steve Miller Band
4. "Achtung Baby" - U2
5. "Ten" - Pearl Jam
6. "Vs." - Pearl Jam
7. "Rock 'n' Soul Part 1: Greatest Hits" - Hall & Oates
8. "Greatest Hits" - Elton John
9. "Let's Get Small" - Steve Martin
10. "Temple of the Dog" - Temple of the Dog
11. "Big Generator" - Yes
12. "Wish You Were Here" - Pink Floyd
13. "5150" - Van Halen
14. "Songs You Know by Heart" - Jimmy Buffett
15. "Little Earthquakes" - Tori Amos

Honorable mentions: "Richard Marx" - Richard Marx, "The Downward Spiral" - Nine Inch Nails, "Badmotorfinger" - Soundgarden (jesus christ guys remaster this *please*), "Unplugged in New York" - Nirvana, "Now and Zen" - Robert Plant, "Bat Out of Hell" - Meatloaf

Three greatest hits albums, I know, but they were albums my family had and that we listened to constantly. The Hall & Oates one has the added benefit of having been hawked on the tv every commercial break through the early-mid 80's.
