Synaesthesia

The joining of two senses.
Visualizing sound. Hearing colour. Visualizing time.

I made the effort to make the trip to Hobart last weekend, so that I could attend the musical event Synaesthesia, at the Museum of Old and New Art.
It was a big effort to go. More of an effort to spend the required amount of money that was the ticket price. And even more of an effort to avoid work, so as not to potentially compromise the weekend (and therefore miss the event).

It was an exclusive event. The museum was only open to ticket holders. Only 400 tickets were available. I believe only 200-300 were sold.

Food was provided. But that doesn't cover it. It was more like a feast. Of magnificent quality. Most of the time, I didn't know what I was eating. But I was okay with that, because I knew that it was quality and tasted delicious!

There were a variety of musical performers. Most notably, the Tasmanian Chorus Orchestra and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. And let me tell you, all the musical delights sounded amazing. MONA has exquisite acoustics!
I have never been that close to professional musicians (particularly the TSO) whilst they were playing before. That by itself was amazing.
The chorus was beyond amazing. They brought tears to my eyes, and shivers down my spine. They were that good!

One of the things about the event that I really enjoyed, was being able to mingle and chat with the musicians. Being able to compliment them was great. Being able to chat with them as both they and we enjoyed other musicians was a truly enjoyable experience that added to the event.

As a bit of an after thought, I probably should mention that previous to the event, I explored a little of south west Tasmania. The event was on the weekend. I flew in on the prior Tuesday afternoon. I drove out to Strathgordon, and then around to Strahan. I thoroughly enjoyed driving through the rainforest and mountain areas of Tassie. I'd be quite happy to do it again as well, except much slower!
I love that island!
