So tonight we ate at
this place, and it was fan-tas-tic. I had duck confit with fig sauce, soft polenta, and grilled greenery. The greenery was the only un-tasty part. Can't say I care much for charred lettuces...
P had lamb shanks, which came with a great big bone that we brought home for Mabel. The bone was so huge it reminded me of an illustration in a children's book of poems I used to have, specifically, "Taffy was a Welshman. Taffy was a thief..." Remember this one? At the end, Taffy steals a marrow bone, but the victim accosts a sleeping Taffy at home and whacks him on the head with it.
H had chicken with roasted garlic mashies, and assorted veggies. All in all, yummy chow. I washed mine down with a merlot, thinking all the while of Paul Giamatti's character in Sideways.
Speaking of food, check out
Cooking for Engineers.
It rained tonight, dropping the temperature nearly 20 degrees. The streets were beautiful, all steamy and shiny.
