Well I guess you won't be calling me a wacko lefty conspiracy theorist any more, not now that this bad boy got my back. Talkin' 'bout the astonish $11 m. being spent on hotel rooms for Hurricane Katrina evacuees, and the glacially slow progress toward the FEMA trailer parks and/or housing vouchers for said evacuees. Ronald Utt was quoted today in a New York Times article by Eric Lipton:
Even conservative housing experts have criticized the Bush administration's handling of the temporary housing response. "I am baffled," said Ronald D. Utt, a former senior official at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and Reagan administration aide who is now a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, the conservative research organization. "This is not incompetence. This is willful. That is the only way I can explain it."

Fuckin' A Mr. Utt! Got it in one. It is in fact willful. This administration is determined to prevent any demonstration of effectiveness by any federal agency, at any cost. Such a demonstration would run counter to the administration's prevailing theory-that government is always the problem, never the solution. If voters saw government agencies compentently solving problems, well, who knows what they might make of that information? Why they might commence to doubt our fearless leader! They might begin to question the motives of an administration that out-Hardings Harding's!

*What The Fucking Fuck?
