So I've been noticing how much cheaper it is to subscribe to wedding magazines rather than buy them in the stores. And considering our wedding is over a year away I think it'd be a good investment.

What magazines do you guys read? I'm thinking of getting "Martha Stewart Wedding" and another more "generic" one- maybe "Modern Bride"? I dunno.

First everyone vendor you visit pretty much gives you at least one free and second after you've read about 5 you probably never want to see another one again cuz its basically like Cosmo and they just keep recycling the same crap with new photos over and over again. I'm so glad i resisted the urge in the first month or so to subscribe to any

I love the M.S.W. one because it always seems to have pretty good DIY ideas and the others are just fun to browse through.

I've been getting a lot of info from the internet, but would love to have some "hard copies" to take with me to the gym or to read through on my lunch break.

None of my vendors thus far have given me any? Other than fancy catalogues of theirs...

I love my Martha Stewart for they always have great "how to do it yourself" ideas. I got a subscription from bride, modern bride, and elegant bride for 19.90 for a year for all three.

Where did you find this deal? That sounds great!

It was in a Brides magazine. You know those annoying cards that fly out at you when you read the magazine. I have seen them throughout the three. Just go to a bookstore or a store that sells the magazine and flip through it to see if you can notice one of those cards. I did purchase my subscription around 9 months ago though.

You can also find it online at modernbride.com or brides.com I think. I got a similar deal (only it was like $23.90) I think. I figure its worth it after 4 magazines anyways. And I'm bound to buy at least 4.

I somewhat agree with the first commenter that they're mostly useless and filled with ads for diamond rings and designer bridal gowns, but I find the local bridal mags pretty useful, like The Knot for your region. In planning my wedding, I can find pretty pictures for inspiration online, but need real reviews and recommendations for local vendors to carry out those design inspirations.

If there's a magazine devoted to cake and flower design, I would buy it in a jiffy.

i also agree. once i found my dress (which was within the first month of being engaged), a lot of the bridal magazines were pretty worthless to me. now i tend to pick up issues that focus on whatever part of the wedding i'm currently thinking about or need ideas for (right now: invitations, cakes, general reception ideas). either Brides or Modern Bride put out a magazine focusing totally on Receptions just recently that i LOVE!

i don't know if i would be able to find enough new and useful in each of the magazines to justify subscribing to them (though i would have fun looking through them!).
