I have heard of at one point in the actual ceremony, the bride takes out one flower for her mom and one flower to the grooms mom and hands it to them, maybe at the end of her isle walk before she is given away?? it would be neat if your boquet was actually 2 put together and it looked like one, then untie a little ribbon and whala, you can give one of them to your mom???? also, there is no rule that you have to toss it at the reception. we are not going to the garter thing where ryan takes it off my leg, because i would feel wierd, "ya we just got married and his hands are already up my skirt" almost humiliating, and he said he would feel awkward also. we both thought, if its that uncomfortable, well just not do it. ryan might just bust a garter out from his pocket or something.
We're not doing the garter thing, because being a small wedding, I know all of the unmarried guys personally (and none of them are under 20!) and it would be a little too weird for me too. :P

I like this idea, too. it's a nice way to honor both moms. or honoring your mom alone would also be very nice. like the other posters said, it doesn't have to be anything about being single. it can be a mom thing.
I think the bouquet toss is a crude tradition anyway. we're not doing that or the garter toss.
To me the traditional bouquet tosses always made me feel bad, 'cuz I never caught it. I was really young for all the weddings I went to, and so I thought I was never going to get married. :P
