Gwen & Pasha's wedding - September 21, 2013

It turns out when you get married 3 weeks into your last year in graduate school, it takes you a while to get your stuff together to make an update post! But finally, almost two months later, we have pictures.

Let me start by saying the day was pretty much perfect. We had one hitch which we managed to smooth over, but it was super low key and fun. My pastor and the wedding coordinator were marveling at how laid back we were about it all. We started at 5:00 to get ready!

We had a lot of fun at the salon, and had time to chill out and eat a bit before the 11 AM ceremony.

That's my mom putting on the necklace my mother-in-law bought me on my husband's last visit home!

We did a first look, and had some fun with silly poses before the bridal party pics…

Our bridal party was such a weird, mixed bag. Professors, programmers, theologians, musicians… They were awesome!

My brother, sister-in law, and sister provided all the music. My bro played organ, sis sang during communion, and SIL accompanied!

The biggest hitch was during the ceremony. Well, right before it. We had planned to use the church's video recording setup to record and Skype in my husband's mom from Ukraine, but the software to record conflicted with Skype. One of our guests ended up using Skype on a groomsmen's phone. It worked pretty well!

The reception was lovely. We didn't have a dance, just toasts and conversation, and a couple of my husband's friends from college singing a Ukrainian wedding song to us in order to make us kiss. (House rules: only a song or a kiss gets a kiss from us--none of that lazy glass clinking!)

We had a great day! The photography was provided for the price of a plane ticket by my good friend Cat, of Photography by Cat who came to Minnesota from the bay area. I highly recommend her! She is tons of fun! The staff at the Afton House was great, and of course the coordinator at Bethlehem Lutheran in Bayport was amazing! So that was my wedding day!
