progress post-wedding is 24 days away!

I think the last time I posted was well over a year ago if not more- that's how long we've been engaged and thankfully our wedding is just about 24 days away (August 24th 2013)

we're having a very small wedding (20 people total) as we've been both married before and had larger weddings, which just really isn't us. So this time around we're doing what we want- which means numerous star wars references, zombie references, cat references, and our beloved pooch- Rolo the Wonderpup being involved.

there is no true theme, but there is a line from the star wars franchise that has been throughout everything which is 'I love you' and 'I know'

there have been some changes- my very dear best friend whom I've known since 6th grade is no longer attending or in the wedding- though she has had 2 years to save/plan for a ticket/time off it didn't happen, and while I was super bummed I've dealt with it and have had another local friend step up, which I am very thankful and appreciative for.

I go for my final dress fitting next week, and I am SO excited! I purchased a super customized Dolly Couture gown, but went with larger measurements in the event I gained weight (I had no intention of losing weight, but am on several medications that can cause weight gain)
last week we frantically (and by frantically I mean I was frantic, partner wasn't too fussed) we found pants for my groom and his best man (I had no idea dudes were so particular about pockets??) and a shirt-our colors are a mustard/gold with black and right now ALL THE SHIRTS are lavender, pink, light blue or light green-so if your colors are those soft pastels clearly the July/August time frame is a good time to get them as there are millions of them.

we have relied on Etsy a LOT it is where we got the bowties which are these (http://www.etsy.com/listing/116579430/star-wars-in-black-and-gold-bow-tie?ref=shop_home_active&ga_search_query=star%2Bwars), our customized Best Pooch Bandana (http://www.etsy.com/listing/153878130/wedding-dog-bandana-best-pooch-date?ref=shop_home_active) though ours had black sequins on it :) we also got these really adorable pennant flags for pictures (https://www.etsy.com/transaction/131385802?ref=fb2_tnx_title) and my most favorite etsy purchase was our 'guest book' which I can't seem to find the listing.
I'm also really looking forward to a necklace I got from Classic Hardware (http://www.classichardware.com/shop-by-category/necklaces/framed-art-necklaces/the-ruler-victorian-oval-bow-frame-necklace) and wearing my sequin covered black Jack Purcell's (purchased on ebay). both the groom and his groomsman ordered custom made converse that are AWESOME, if only they could have customized the sequin ones! oh well. We also got my bridesmaid black sequin covered all-stars (also from ebay). my Groom wanted us all in converse. We also after a few failed purchases (everything had been plastic meh) found metal cufflinks (https://www.thinkgeek.com/product/ebe5/?srp=5) we went with the Rebel Alliance symbol, though now I see they have a Death Star set!

we also decided on our signature drink which we're call "Looking for Love in Alderaan Places" it's a local drink called a Caribou Kiss. We had been kind of iffy on favors because..who really likes them? we found some small R2 unit soaps, and a Han Solo in Carbonite so we got those and if people want them, great- if not doesn't matter.

we're meeting with our Marriage Commissioner tonight to go over how we want the ceremony to go, and how long we expect it go for. How long did your ceremony go for, or how long do you think it would go for? we are not having any type of secular/religious service, and a very small wedding party- I can't imagine it would go for more than 15 minutes? We both have written a few short vows.

For those who did NOT go on a honeymoon the day after your wedding, what did you do? we're going to rent a hotel room at the Hotel Fort Garry (http://www.fortgarryhotel.com/) for the day of the wedding/night of the wedding but beyond having an amazing brunch the morning after, I'm not sure we're going to do anything? We aren't going on a honeymoon until April (we're going to Las Vegas for the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly/Car/Music Festival followed by 2 weeks in Hawaii)- my mom is staying with us from August 20th-Augsut 30th (she's flying in from Los Angeles to Winnipeg) so...... not really sure what people do post wedding! my last wedding afterwards I flew back home to drive back to Canada..that isn't happening this time so... yeah.

How long did your pre-ceremony pictures take (if you did that)? Our ceremony isn't until 430PM. Currently I have hair+Makeup at a local salon (http://www.aevi.ca/) booked for 9AM- my mom, myself and my bridesmaid will be getting hair and makeup done which would have us done around 12PM. I'm figuring once hair and makeup have been done we can all go back to the hotel room and I guess meet with the photographer to get some 'getting ready' pictures done.

we just have a few things left to do- pick up Marriage License, final meeting with the photographer, go to Minneapolis to pick up my mom and spend a few days at Mall of America, get the Wonderpup groomed. I'm still on the fence if I want to get eye-lash extensions, so I should I guess figure that out and get on it. IF you did get eyelash extensions- how long before your wedding did you get them? how long did/do they last? I've heard they last around 2-3 weeks? was it weird?

we also need to decide if we're getting a hired car for the day to pick us girls up to go to the salon, take us to the hotel, etc.
I have my hair and makeup trial on August 16th (I've been seeing my stylist for 6 years, so we're pretty solid on what I am looking for)- I'm thinking of a few different vintage styles like:

or

oh! and I got my Veil from Vintagebox 1947 (http://vintagebox1947.com/shop-collections/veils/sweetheart-peek-a-boo-tulle-birdcage-veil-with-heart-flocking#.UfmDGm0pjPQ)

and my makeup...which isn't really a big stretch from my usual makeup which is a dark red lip (I generally wear MAC's Ruby Woo, Russian Red or Ronnie Red, thick liquid cat-eyeliner)
