Ditching a bridesmaid

When I got engaged last March, I asked my sister and two cowrokers to be my bridesmaids (let's call them K and R). Between now and then, two things happened; 1. I got fired 2. One of my coworker bridesmaids (K) moved away. R and I still talk every once in a while, and we keep trying to get together and hang out but she's busy with work and life and stuff and that's cool. K and never talk. Even when she was still in the same state and working at the same place as me, we only talked when we saw each other at work. Near the end, I barely saw her and therefore barely talked. K and I aren't that close. Our lives only touch at like one or two points. I don't really feel like we were real friends despite hanging out a couple times outside of work. I feel like I was too hasty in picking her as a bridesmaid at this point.

TL;DR
Do I keep a bridesmaid in my party who I'm no longer close with and who lives 2,000 miles away and if I decide to, how do I ask her to step down?
