creative ways to ask "will you be my bridesmaid?"

I want to hear about creative ways you asked your bridesmaids (or bridesmen) to be in your wedding. I'd like to try to think of something very crafty that will make them feel special, but I'm stumped.

I'm only having two ladies but they live nine and ten hours away from me, respectively, so I won't be able to take them out for a nice lunch like I want to. Whatever awesome thing I come up with has to be doable via US Mail!
