Less than 100 days now! I feel like I've accomplished so much this week!
FLOWERS
I originally thought I wanted pink peonies, but after seeing different fake peony stems, I didn't like the way they looked in person. So I returned the ones I had originally ordered from fioribelli.com. Flowers have been very frustrating to me thus far in the process, and I was pretty much giving up over the weekend. Anthony and I went to Meijer, and they had real hydrangeas. I was telling him how nice they looked, and how I'd be happy with those as my bouquet.
Anthony's mom took me to Michael's to look at flowers earlier this week, and I actually ended up buying all the flowers for the bridal party (4 bouquets and 5 boutonnieres)! The next day, we went to Jo Ann's, and I got flowers for the boutonnieres for the dads and grandpas. The only flower I have left are for the moms' and grandma's corsages.
BOUQUETS
Bride
This is my inspiration bouquet.
I'm going to have 9 of these large pink roses. They look SO realistic, even in person, and they're pretty big! They were kind of expensive at $7 a stem, but I can have them forever.
I still have to get some ostrich feathers, but I think we're going to Hobby Lobby this weekend to check out what they have. I know I saw that HL has feathers online, so I can always get them that way.
The stems are going to be wrapped in a soft white ribbon, and then criss crossed (like a corset) with thinner apple green ribbon. Hmm, or maybe wrapped in green ribbon and criss crossed with white? I also thrifted an oval pearl brooch that I want to pin to my bouquet.
OH! I also bought my toss bouquet! We were at Party City getting table cloths for the bridal shower, and Anthony's mom spotted this little pink crepe bouquet thing. Best part? It was only $2. It's cute! I'm tossing it, so what so I care what it looks like? I don't have any pictures of it though.
Bridesmaids
Like I was saying before, I said hydrangeas would make a nice bouquet. And hydrangeas are what my 3 girls are going to be carrying. :)
These are pretty large flowers, so each girl is going to have 3 hydrangea stems. The handle will be wrapped in white ribbon with green ribbons criss crossed. I also think I'm going to do light pink ostrich feathers in these bouquets, so it ties them all together. These were 40% off, so they were like $3-something a stem.
BOUTONNIERES
We found mini hyndrangeas on one of the end caps for $1 for a 3-pack of hydrangea stems, so all the guys (5) are going to have hydrangea bouts. We figured each guy will have 2 hydrangeas each. I think I also want to stick some feathers behind the bouts, to tie all the flowers together.
Groom
Anthony is going to have hot pink hydrangeas, which matches the color of my flowers.
Groomsmen
The 4 guys are going to have light pink bouts, which match the girls' bouquets.
Fathers/Grandfathers
The boutonnieres for all the important men are going to be hot pink ranunculus. I like keeping them all the same, so people will know they are VIPs. I also like how swirly they look in person. I got 2 stems of these, each with 3 flowers, so each VIM (Very Important Man) is going to have 1 ranunculus, and then something else. Maybe feather? Idk.
CORSAGES (Moms and Grandma)
I still have to figure out corsages for the moms, but I'm going to wait until they have their dresses. I think I want to go with purple-y pink flowers for them. My mom said she wanted a pink flower.
The best part is that we'd budgeted $300 for flowers. So far, I've spent $127, including supplies like pins, floral tape and ribbons. :D I'm thinking less than $200 for all the flowers, feathers, and supplies. That's for 4 bouquets, 9 boutonnieres, and 3 corsages.
PAPER
I also bought all the paper I'll need for anything papery.
I got 6 8-packs of blank note cards as thank you notes for the bridal shower. They're adorable, and totally match my wedding. I wish they would've had more, or else I would've made them my wedding thank yous. But each 8-pack was $1 each, so thank you, Michael's dollar section. The green matches my wedding shoe color in real life.
I already had a box of 100 invitations and envelopes that I found at the thrift store for FOUR DOLLARS. Jo Ann's is having a 40% off sale on tons of stuff. I got 2 packs of blank white card stock to make the maps and RSVP cards, 4 packs of 25 envelopes for RSVPs to come back, and 2 50-packs of blank cards + envelopes for wedding thank yous.
We're designing and printing everything ourselves. I know I want to get rubber stamps to do the design on the thank you cards. I'm also thinking I was to stamp a design on the invitations, rather than printing them that way. I need to get some rubber stamps to stamp our paper bags (plain white) for the candy buffet as well. I have some ideas in mind, but I'm going to wait to see what Hobby Lobby has in terms on rubber stamps before I buy stuff. Otherwise I have a coupon for 20% off my entire purchase at Michael's for Sunday and Monday.
Whew! I feel like this took FOREVER to update. Bless you if you read all of that.
