Quick recap: I'm April. He's Derek. We're having a Pirates vs Ninjas themed wedding May 14th.
Intro Update One Update Two After a month of badgering my future husband, Derek, I finally got him to talk to his grandmother about what she was intending to contribute to the wedding. Normally, I'm not like that. I typically refuse to ask them for money under everyday circumstance nor do I wish to discuss our finances but she'd said offhandedly for us to "not worry about it" when it came for paying for the wedding when we first started planning. Of course that had me wondering exactly what she meant. Was she going to pay for everything or what?
After he spoke with her she seemed on board to give us money to start acquiring the things we need; clothing, supplies, etc and she also started buying things on the "it's your Christmas present" pretenses. Trust me, I am completely grateful to this woman. She's no stranger to spoiling the hell out of Derek. Of course, I'm not used to that. I come from a poor family so it's hard to accept that she doesn't feel obligated. She's actually really happy to buy us stuff. /long winded.

Today Derek's ninja wedding attire came in the mail!
The right arm is pinned down by that black cape thing. We're going to consult a seamstress on altering the cape so that arm will be free. Also the pants need to be taken in and hemmed up at the bottom. All in all though, we're quite pleased with it. Very formal ninja-y :)
If you're familiar with the anime/manga Naruto, this is the Danzo cosplay. We got it from
Cosplay Magic It's actually really strong material and well made.

What she's getting me for "Christmas" is something very special to me. I mentioned it in some of my other posts on here and probably in several "show me" posts. My beloved guestbook! I wanted to get a nice leather journal to have people write us a little message in the front for the first few pages and use the rest of it as a family journal.
This is the one I picked:
(
From this etsy seller )
So people would understand what I want from them I decided I would write a little something to go on the first page to sort of encourage our guests to go for it within reason.
This is what I've come up with:
Our Story
Once there was a boy who liked a girl, who was completely clueless. One day the boy confessed his love, which the girl rejected immediately! Thankfully, that's not the end of the story. With a little thought and some great advice from her father, the girl decided to give the boy a try.
And here we are two years later. Our "try" became love. Today we try something new, beginning our lives together with synchronized hearts.
Thank you for coming to our wedding. Feel free to leave us encouraging messages, anecdotes, advice or artwork. Please keep to consecutive pages and don't forget to leave your name! Bear in mind, we will be using this as our family journal to chronicle our lives together. We love you all and are happy to have you as a part of our first chapter!

I've changed my mind about my wedding attire - for the millionth time. It may very well end up being a surprise to everyone, including me! I also decided that I didn't like the way the wedding band we got looked with my engagement ring. The band was too big for the e-ring and it looked all wrong. Since the band was inexpensive, Derek's not too bent out of shape about me wanting something different. He's actually really sweet and helpful about the whole wedding. Yay for sensitive menfolk! He's also designing our cupcake pirate ship cake holder structure! I've never seen someone so excited to stack pastries strategically.
Still no real idea what my Matey of Honor and Not-So-Cleverly-Name Other Bride's Matey will be wearing. I've found some moderately priced 3 piece wench type outfits on etsy that I'm thinking of getting and had to explain to Derek's "Best Ninja" that he needed to dress like Ryu from Street Fighter.
Other than all of the above, I'm just trying to figure out who to invite and what songs to play at the reception! That's all I have for now! Sorry so long winded. Thanks for checking out my progress.
*Anecdote - one day I was being very serious with my honey and said, "I can't wait to be Mrs. You" and he said, "And I can't wait to be Mr. ME!" It was very funny to us so we call one another Mrs. You and Mr. Me hehe
