Lots of randoms, make-up, schedules... Edit

Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a good labor day weekend! We're in the home stretch and no where near where we should have been at this point. We're 18 days away which really means 16 days of planning away or something like that! Needless to say I have a To-Do list that's 6 pages long single spaced and i'm mildly freaking out (that's probably an ( Read more... )

I did my own makeup and was happy with that. I recommend Clinique for sensitive skin, they have some really great stuff and are hypoallergenic. Don't forget to do a test run before your wedding!

I went to clinique last week and within 15 minutes my face was super shiny, by the end of the night i wasn't looking so hot! I think i would just have to reapply a lot. Thanks for the suggestion! I'm hoping to be able to schedule some appointments this week and next week!! Definitely should have already been figured out by now.

Clinique has a lot of different lines - it could be you tried the wrong stuff? I wear Clinique foundation and powder and it lasts me all day, easily. I tend toward dry skin so I use their more moisturizing foundations, but you could look at their Stay True makeup, which is for oily skin. Make sure you set it with powder and do bring extra powder with you for touch-ups. I use the powder for red skin, but there are definitely mattifying powders too.

Oh - another makeup tip - make sure you avoid anything with SPF in it like the plague. It will reflect back light in photos and make you look washed out. (This obviously doesn't apply if you're getting married outside - then, SPF is kind of necessary).

A very good coverage foundation that I've liked recently is Cover FX. I can buy it at a local drug store here in Canada at their cosmetics counter, but it's not the cheapest available. It's great coverage; I have rosacea and get red easily and it worked for me and I was happy with it.

Oh wonderful! Thank you! Do you know if it photographs well? I'm definitely going to look in to this!

I'm pretty sure it does; my makeup artist didn't use this brand, but I have some for my own use so I don't know if I have any pics of me in it handy. However, one of the MUAs I was talking to recommended it for it's coverage as it's often used in movies. The days I wore it myself, it lasted all day and I was really happy with it. I first got a sample from the counter; she gave me about a week's worth to try it on an everyday basis so I could see how I like it. For everyday, you can mix it with a moisturizer for a bit lighter coverage.

I just don't know if it's hypoallergenic.

I'm no help with the schedules - but I can try to help with the makeup!

I have super-sensitive skin. I went to Sephora and they suggested Stila makeup, which is hypoallergenic. The great thing is that they applied the makeup so I could see how long it held up.

I use a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation and I love it. I hope that helps!

Great suggestion with the tinted moisturizer, thank you! I'm going to be calling Sephora today to see if i can set up some appointments with them. If you do a make-up application with them do you know if you need to buy a certain dollar amount of products?

It's a free application and you're not obligated to buy anything... I bought most of what they showed me because it looked and felt great!

Also, you can just walk in for your consultation, but I'm sure they take appointments too.

Makeup - my sister's doing mine, we're using MAC. I'd say she's putting aside around 30 minutes for makeup, and a few hours for hair ( ... )

I tried MAC and i think i need to get another person to do it, the powder they used picked up on every single wrinkle, hair, line and pore it was strange for me but i don't wear foundation or much powder very often so maybe it was just my imagination.

Thank you so much for sending your schedule!!!! We're also having a big Welcome BBQ, how many people are you looking at coming to your wedding/bbq?

the bbq, I think we'll be having about 30. I'm making all the food myself with help from my mom and sister, so we'll see how that goes.

The wedding, we're expecting 45 guests, so it's fairly small.

Those were my dream numbers!!! We're going to be doing most of the food ourselves too and with over 100 people now i'm a lot more stressed out about it all then i would have been! Thank you again for your schedule and the info!

I have rosacea and help run a night club where I live in fear of people occasionally taking my picture so I've somewhat mastered the art of foundation that doesn't sweat off after 6 hours over the years. My favorite combo is my daily moisturizer (it varies, but I like Eucerin), a light foundation like Prescriptives custom blend and Maybelline Pure Stay Powder over that. It's matte and super easy to reapply throughout the night just in case I get a little shiny. I only use it over very thin liquid foundation though, otherwise it starts lookin' a little drag queenish.

Putting on moisturizer first really seems to be the key no matter what you use, it seems to act as a primer. :)

I HATE that Prescriptives is no more, it was my all time favorite line. Thank you so much for your comment. I don't know a lot about rosacea, when you get hot or when the rosacea is a little sensitive/acting up does it get really sensitive to what's on it (like when i get red and blotchy it burns really bad and sometimes even worse if anything is on it). Thank you so much for the tips!

You're welcome! :D I totally forgot Prescriptives went out of business. I still haven't found a good thin foundation replacement, which means my foundation is about a year old now. Ick! Time flies. heh.

My skin's not suuuper sensitive but yeah, when I got hot I get all red and blotchy and my skin sometimes feels like I have a mild sunburn even though I don't. The moisturizer I use seems to help with it, but I have a friend with similar skin that it does nothing for. She's a huge fan of Clinique 'cause it's one of the few things that doesn't make her break out in a rash. I keep meaning to try it. :)
