293 day progress post.

RECAP: Mackenzie, 22 & Philip (aka PJ), 24. June 4th, 2011. Brown, white, purple, emerald/chartreuse, and royal blue (peacock colors). Mild peacock and skeleton key theme.

293 days to go, and I feel like I'm going insane.

Well, the good news, we ordered my dress! Shortly after I went dress shopping with my friends, I went back for a Maggie Sottero trunk show with my mom! I tried on a few new dresses, even one with pockets! But after trying them all on, my mother and I were convinced, this is the one:

Maggie Sottero's Holly in white, with the attendant holding it in a side bustle! haha. I'm going to get bra cups sewn in, and change it to a corset back, instead of a button-covered zipper. Due to the trunk show, we got 15% off, and my dream dress was only $725! I am one happy camper!

I love everything about my new dress, and the thing that I love the most is that it's flattering, but not overwhelming. I am wearing the dress, the dress isn't wearing me.

But of course, all good deeds don't go unpunished? One of my bridesmaids is also getting married next year, about a month after my wedding. When I first went dress shopping at the place I bought my dress, it was after she had bailed on going dress shopping with me. I love my bridesmaids, but I'm not one of those girls that (a) needs people fawning over me telling me whether I look okay or not, and (b) is about to put all of her wedding plans on hold so that she can have a bonding experience with her bridesmaids. Anyway, when I first went she got upset because I didn't wait to go with her (when she had bailed the first time). Then, I invited her to the trunk show, but she couldn't go, and now that I've shown her my dress, she's upset because it looks "like hers". She hasn't ordered her dress yet, she has only tried them on. I don't know, it just drives me nuts and I feel like no one is happy for me... Everyone has to bring their own drama into it.

For example, my FMIL made an off-hand comment about how she thought the bridesmaid's dresses might be "slutty". I ignored it, and I'm glad I did, because about a week later, I saw a wedding online where the bridesmaids were wearing the EXACT dresses I have chosen, in the exact same color and those girls looked classy as hell. So HAH.

Sorry, my venting has been completed. lol.

Now, I'm onto the quest for jewelry!

Firstly, I have gauged earrings, they're currently at a 6g, and I wear black plugs with cubic zirconia in the middle:

I'm realizing that with pretty gauges, I'll probably have to gauge up.

ROBOT Piercing & Tattoo
For example, these would go perfectly with our key motif, but I would have to gauge up to a 2g.

So I'm leaning toward simple plugs like I have, and then a necklace of some kind.

Some of the ideas I've thrown around so far: cameo on a satin ribbon, necklace with keys, pearls, etc.

I can't decide whether I want something classic and vintage, glamorous or simple! Any suggestions??

I think I've decided on clutches for the bridesmaids as opposed to bouquets. The bouquets would have been fake anyway, so I think the clutches are a better option!

She has so many options for patterns! Oh my goodness! That's what I'm going to need the most help with! I want them to go with our wedding colors, but not match completely. The dresses will be purple, and I want them to correspond with the other wedding colors. She has over 200 fabrics, and I don't even know where to start! If anyone wants to help out with pattern suggestions, here's a link to her fabric collection. I'd appreciate any help I could get! I mean, should I let each bridesmaid choose from a color set?? I don't know.

On the invitation front, I've got them almost done! I still need to do more envelope liners, and more enclosures. I forgot to get the music request cards printed, and I need to print new stickers and order mailing labels and get them printed. Then I'm done? haha. Oh and can't forget the engagement photos that we still haven't managed to take! (We've been engaged since 07/09)

My father is amazing. He knows how important it is to me that his family be at our wedding, he has offered to pay for the hotel stays of his siblings, nieces and nephews. He has 5 siblings, plus their significant others, plus I have 5 cousins, plus their significant others. PLUS he is talking about paying for a shuttle to take them back and forth to the hotel. And people wonder why I'm a daddy's girl!?!

The save the dates are a little off-center, but I will live. lol.

Phew. I think that's it.

Still to do:
- Everything having to do with the caterer.
- Booking a photographer. Can't decide if I can afford to splurge on it, but I know that it's important to me.
- Ordering supplies for centerpieces. Mason jars, candles, ribbon, etc.
- Figuring out guestbook. Thinking about designing a special guestbook page, then getting it printed on kraft cardstock, and getting it spiral bound into a notebook.
- Ordering the FH's ring. Of course, he loves the almost $700 ring...
- Favors. Already bought CDs for mix CDs. Now I need to figure out packaging & playlist. I also want to do something else, but I haven't quite figured it out yet. I've always wanted to do matchbooks, since my dad collects them. But I don't know if I want it to JUST be matchbooks and CDs or if I want to do something else too.
- Figuring out the logistics of the dessert buffet. Who is willing to help, what we're going to have, etc.
- Engagement photos.
- Send out save-the-dates.

Plus everything else that comes after. Everyone in my family has had small weddings. They just don't get it. lol.
