arch to get married under

I am getting married at a beautiful farm in a large open field. By "large", I mean it's probably an acre. It has a stone fence around it dating back to the 1700's and it is edged by some lovely trees, but other than that is quite plain. We are holding the ceremony in the corner of the field but I am thinking about what I can do to spruce it up a ( Read more... )

How much were you looking to spend on the veil?

It would really depend on what it looked like and if it fit the bill.

I'm not 100 percent sure I want to part with mine, but thought it couldn't hurt to reach out in case it makes sense for you and for me. It's not ribbon-edged, but lace-edged. Attached to a comb. Has some sequins - I'm not crazy about sequins but this looked so so pretty over my dress. I don't have all my photos back yet, but here are a couple I have so far:

that is beautiful, thank you so much for posting the photos. I really have my heart set on the ribbon so that it's light enough to get a little bit airborne, so that I can get some photos similar to these ones:

Lovely! Can't say I blame you - and I'm happy to hold onto mine for longer anyway. :)

That is beautiful, but it looks like it just has a raw edge? Are you wanting ribbon just on the end or around the whole edge? I wonder how difficult it would be to get the veil to float if completely edged? You might need an assistance to flip it up and get out of the way for the shot... (which they may have done in the second shot anyway since her hair doesn't appear to be moving as much).

Either way, you could probably save a lot of money DIYing your veil as well. Bridal illusion tulle runs about $2/yd (and you might could find it on sale cheaper than that.)

Personally, when I was playing with it, I found it easier to hand-stitch ribbon to tulle rather than use a sewing machine. (Though I ended up deciding to leave the edge of my own veil raw after I tried it with my dress and liked the shape - I didn't want to weight it down after that.)

a thin ribbon will still be light enough to get some floating action. I like the look of the more finished edge, too :)
