We are a year out from our wedding! I am so excited and have quite a bit accomplished. Still many final decisions to be made but I am thrilled what we have so far. Our wedding colors are lavender, sky blue and celedon.
On to see the pretties!
We are getting married June 25, 2011 at the Doubletree Hotel in Alsip, IL. Evening ceremony followed by food and dancing!
There will be a riser on the dance floor so that all the guests can sit at their tables and see the ceremony. Plus, there is less for the venue staff to turn over as once our ceremony is completed the bar opens and butler passed hors d'oeuvres begin. There will also be high boy tables spread out among the room so if people prefer to mingle while eating, they can do that.
We will have 2-hours of butler passed hors d'oeuvres. Jeff and I are currently arguing over the exact types of yummies we will have but there will be four choices total. They will be passed from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. we will have a 2-hour Buffet which will include the following:
Champagne at all tables
Various salads
Various breads
Chicken Piccata with Lemon Caper Butter Sauce
Sliced Beef Tenderloin
Pasta Primavera with Grilled Veggies
Herb Roasted Baby Red Potatoes
Vegetable Medley
Coffee and tea
We have decided to forgo a wedding cake (it's a second marriage for both of us) and instead we will offer a sweet table with a variety of cookies and brownies.
Top Shelf full open bar.
Also, toward the end of the night, we decided on a Popcorn Buffet/Bar:
Dresses! I posted pictures of these a couple weeks ago so I apologize ahead of time that you are seeing them one more time (but it's a progress post right?). I cannot decide between two dresses. Both of which I love for different reasons. The first dress is a Mori Lee and it is the one dress that has truly made me cry. It has all the elements I wanted. The pictures here are of me in the dress but the dress is about two sizes too small so the boob area looks a bit weird!
The second dress is an Alfred Angelo and has all the elements I love! The ONLY store that had the dress in my size would not allow pictures so this is my biggest problem because I don't remember what I look like in it. My other concern is that I think it might be "too young" for me, as I will be 41 at the time of the wedding. I will be going to try it on one more time, and then I will know!
Bridesmaid dress! Unfortunately the style did not come in a lavender color, but it comes in this awesome grape which will be offset by the flowers being in the wedding colors.
Junior Bridesmaid dress:
Flowers: I am so blessed to have a wonderful friend who will be making all the flowers. The bridesmaids bouquets will look something like this:
Our table centerpieces will have three of these boxes with alternate roses/flowers in our color scheme as well as tealight candles on the table. The boxes will be colored in the grape of the bridesmaids dresses with sky blue and celedon ribbon: Something along this route...until we do an actual mock up.
Our aisle will be lined with tall vases filled with water, flowers (cabbage roses) and floating candles.
We haven't discussed what my bouquet will look like yet. I just know I want something lush!
Our tables will be named after our favorite authors. The table name card will list the author's name and have a blurb from our favorite book by that author, pertaining to love/marriage/relationships.
Our escort card table will have a centerpiece like this (although not as large):
With the escort cards being book marks.
We have hired our photographer and DJ. We have pretty much decided on the officiant, just need to schedule a time to meet with him.
I am HOPING to get my save the dates completed soon (long story there) and out the door soon. Since our wedding is right before the 4th of July and we have quite a few out of town guests, the sooner the better!
Whooo I think that's pretty good for a year out. Thanks for looking :)
