Hi Wedding Planners :) I have not posted here in ages but after a two year engagement, my September 18th wedding is fast approaching. I've got the dress, the wedding party's dresses/tuxes, the venues, the caterer, the DJ, the photographer, the cake, and the officiant. I do not have flowers. I went and talked to a few florists in the area of my wedding (Mystic, CT) and the quotes were very high. I am considering ordering the floral arrangements (just bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages; no floral centerpieces) through a grocery store, namely Stop & Shop.
My mother of course thinks I am completely insane, but I went and talked to the floral department there and they even had a nice brochure to give me with photos of their work. They referred me to the manager to talk specifics.
Although I would like to go through an independent florist, something has to give as my fiance and I just bought our first home and every spare penny counts these days! I really don't see why we need to spend almost $1000 on such a small amount of flowers. It seems crazy.
Has anyone gotten their flowers from a grocery store? Am I crazy for even thinking this? Should I just shell out the money for the florist to do it even though I think flowers are totally a waste of money and probably wouldn't even get them except for the fact that my mum would NOT be happy?
