Ceremony time

Hey gals and guys! So I went to a (gorgeous, amazing, tear-jerking, etc.) wedding this weekend. The invitation said the ceremony began at 4:30 p.m. We got there at 4:15, and the ceremony didn’t start until 5. I didn’t mind...I mean, I understood why...people were trickling in long after 4:30 (we were among the first to arrive) and a few people even ( Read more... )

It'd drive me nuts, too. But I'm one of those responsible people that always shows up to events at least 15 minutes early.

Yeah I get you guys, and I think it’s rude too...but knowing my family and some of my friends, lol...they aren’t disrespectful, just a little clueless…so I guess I have to figure out if the rudeness outweighs the preparedness. xD Thanks for the input.

I am, too, but I admit that I'd rather the time be arranged to accommodate late people than be constantly interrupted during the ceremony by latecomers. That irritates me more than anything. :)

Oooh, good point. I'd be MORE irritated by other people coming in late and interrupting the service, so between those two options, I'd much prefer just coming super-early.

this, very much. Our invites said 5. We started at 5.

my MIL wanted me to put 4:30 on the invites for the very reason the OP is citing, but I refused (we had a huge fight over this that ended in me crying).

I think it's disrespectful to those that would show up on time to make them wait around because other people didn't have the wherewithal to show up on time. It was as much for me about showing respect for the guests that would show up on time as anything.

FWIW, no one missed our ceremony or showed up late.

This...while I am not as punctual as I should be for work, I am always on time/early for something like a wedding, so I would be a little impatient if I had to sit there for 30-45 minutes waiting for it to start ( ... )
