"special thanks" wording

We're getting married on my parents wedding anniversary....my mom passed away almost 6 years ago.  I would like to include a picture of my parents on their wedding day in the program and put something like, "A special thanks to my parents for sharing their day with us".  However, it sounds weird because my mom is passed....I also don't want any of ( Read more... )

I think you refer to your mom as "the late first name last name" and that indicates that she is deceased. I think it's a nice idea.

I agree. Maybe add "They would have celebrated their XX wedding anniversary today."

This is a really nice way to do it. Maybe something like, "We are proud to share our wedding date with [bride's parents]. They would have celebrated their XX anniversary today." Maybe follow that with "In loving memory of [bride's mom], 19XX-2004"

I would be careful not to offend your Dad's current girlfriend with the wording. Maybe put a caption under the picture saying "Married June 19, 1976" and then under it put "In loving Memory of [Bride's Mom], 19XX-2004". Otherwise I'm afraid that counting your parent's wedding annoversary's when your mother was deceased might appear to be a slight to your father's girlfriend.
