FH's birthday is over the weekend, so I have to do this update early, as I will be away for the weekend visiting him!
Where do I start?
Date: 6/18/10
Location: Menomonee Falls/Milwaukee Wisconsin
Colors: "Harvard Red" and "Old Gold" (FH is a Phi Kappa Tau, so they are his colors)
Guests: 250ish
Attire:
Bride (that's me)
Everything will be in DB Apple. Apparently it's all come in already, and my mom has picked it up. I am going home this weekend, and I can't wait to see it!!!! I'm debating what jewelry I should wear. I have a set of pearls, and matching single pearl earings, but I'm afraid they would get lost with the dress.
The lovely Bridesmaids (Kelsey, Melanie, Heather, Ashley and Kaleesha) will all be wearing this dress in DB Apple:
It looked really good on all of them, Kelsey who is a size two, A-cup, and Kaleesha who is apparently a size 4 in the waist and a size 16 in the chest. Melanie is 5'2", Heather is 5'11" (They are the ones in the picture).
I am so excited to have all of them in my wedding. Kaleesha is actually a friend of my FH, and was a second choice. I wanted to ask my friend Theresa, but her brother is getting married the very next day all the way in Cape Cod. It's too bad. I'm still happy with the way things turned out though. They are wonderful people.
My sister, Anna, will be playing the role of flower girl. I made her try on about 85,000 dresses, and we still haven't picked one. My mom is thinking she will have a seamstress friend of hers make one. I'm not picky about it, so as long as my mom and Anna both like it, I'm good. She's too cute
My mom has also bought her dress:
She bought it in DB Fern, which is a sort of olive green color. It will look really nice with her skin tone.
Groomsmen:
There are 5, but we aren't sure who the five are yet. We know for a fact that Alex, Jim, Andrew, and Jarrad will be in the wedding, and FH is waiting to hear from his friend John. He said he might have a family reunion or something that weekend I guess? It's not really my department. The Ring Bearer will be FH's nephew.
We know for sure that the groomsmen will be wearing vests in "Victorian Gold"
And FH will be wearing Apple (because of my dress)
I think FH want's to wear pinstripes, but he hasn't thought much past that.
Ceremony:
We are having our ceremony at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Menomonee Falls There are literally NO pictures of it online. It's about a block from FH's house, and it's really tiny. I don't know how we will fit everyone, but as most of our families are Catholic or Atheist or Presbryterian, I doubt that they will come to the actual ceremony. We decided to have a full service too, so that will probably weed out even more people.
Reception:
FH's family is well aquainted with the Banquet Manager at Potawatomi Casino. She is giving us an AMAZING deal on our wedding. She told me that if there was anything at all that we wanted she would make it happen, because she "has to make sure that Danny's special day is amazing." No one has called FH "Danny" since he was 10, but that's fine. I'll work with it. Plus, the room itself is RED AND GOLD!!!
You can see a
panorama view here. It looks really pink with all of the lights on like that, but I assure you the walls are red with flecks of gold in them. Absolutely beautiful.
She will also be doing our centerpieces, which will look like this (with some red flower, and only 1/table):
It's also no additional charge for any of the linens or anything. I'm excited. She's been amazing to work with. We have completely free range on our menu as well. She said "you name it, and we can make it". AWESOME!!!
We are doing our cake through there as well. I'm thinking someting like this (but with chocolate frosting.... I hate fondant):
Flowers:
I want something like this:
But with red carnations and red roses. Just something really simple. The roses are for me, and the carnations are for FH (they are his fraternity flower). Not sure what I want for the bridesmaids. Probably just a simpler version.
Hair and Makeup:
I never wear makeup. like... I've been using the same bottle of foundation since my sophomore year of high school. I think over my winter break I will talk to my neighbor, who sells Mary Kay, to see if she can help me with my face.
I am really picky about my hair. The same person has been cutting it for the last 10 years. She does an amazing job. She will be cutting my hair next month, so I will probably talk to her about hair things when I go see her.
Pictures:
are being done by a friend of FH's father. They are free, so that's good, but I'm not sure they will be the most amazing. I've seen his work, and it's alright, but not awesome the way I've seen from some people here. But since the in-laws are paying for the wedding, I suppose it's up to them.
Invitations:
I want something really simple. I'm thinking about making them myself. I do a lot of stamping and card making, so it wouldn't be too difficult if a bunch of people go together and we did it assembly line style. I'm thinking about something like this:
We aren't doing STDs, because they would have to go out around Christmas, and we just don't want them to get lost with all of the cards.
Okay, that's probably good for now.
