So, alittle bit of a back story. Me and Jeff met in January of 2006, started dating in February of 2006, and then we moved in together in April of 2006. On Christmas Eve of 2008, he proposes. And I could not be happier. I can't wait to marry this man, to spend the rest of my life with him, and to start a family. Now, here is the progress that I have made with wedding planning. :)
Our wedding colors are pink, black, and white, and the wedding will be outside, at his father's house, in the backyard. The wedding will be just family, which is still around 75 people. The reception is inside, at the VFW hall, and that will include friends and family. The reception will be huge, probably 250+ people.
My wedding dress - I looked for a few weeks before finally finding the "one" at a local bridal shop. It's absolutely perfect. The minute I put it on, tears came to my eyes, and I knew nothing else would work. It is white, strapless with a sweetheart neckline, a lace up back, and a pickup button. The top has a beading work that is absolutely gorgeous but not over the top. And some of the pickups have beading on them as well. Something that I am very happy about is that it fits perfect, so no alterations will need to be done.
Bridesmaids Dresses - The dresses are watermelon pink, from David's Bridal. I don't have any pictures right now. But, they are about knee length with a halter neckline and the chest it fitted and the waist flairs out somewhat. The price was alittle expensive. But, the girls (4 of them) all liked them. And, they go with my dress great. They only take 2 weeks after ordering to arrive. So, they will be ordered probably in May.
Flowers - Our flowers are lillies. My boquet will probably be made at a florist shop, because if not cut right, lillies can bleed, and I don't want that to happen on my dress. But, the rest of the flowers (for the reception and for decorations at the wedding) will be grown at a family friend's house and she wiull be making all the arrangements for us. She has a lily garden and repeatedly asking if she could help out, which is wonderful for us. And a HUGE money saver.
Invitations - I'm alittle ahead of the game, since the wedding isn't until August, but the invitations have been picked out, ordered, and are already here. I will make a picture post in a few days of everything that I do have, but right now, descriptions is all I can give. The front is pink, black, and white stripes with a bride and groom holding flowers. Our names are printed on the bottom corner. The invitation opens in the middle, seperating the groom and bride, and the writing is on the inside. Becasue we are only having family at the wedding, we had to order reception cards as well. They are a little version of the actualy invitation, witha qoute at the top, saying "Two hears that beat as one", a little version of the bride and groom, and then the reception details are listed below. The reception cards didn't really turn out the way I had wanted, smaller than I had expected. But, they will have to work. I just need to find envelopes little enough for them. We'll see how that goes.
Justice of the Peace - We actually have a friend of Jeff's family, who used to baysit him, who will be speaking at our wedding and doing our ceremony for us. I have never met her, but Jeff's family grew up with her family. And it was something that really mattered to him. Alot of the details in our wedding are coming along great because of all the family and friends that our families have, if you haven't noticed. The budget is around $2,000 so in some cases, we really had to juggle.
Band/ DJ - We really wanted a live bacd, but with the way the economy is and the budget we have, we decided it would be smarter to just get a DJ. For our first dance together, and for my father daughter dance, my Uncle (who is in a band) will actually be singing those two songs. But, the rest of the night a DJ will be on hand. We know him personally and he has a done few weddings that we have been too. We know what his style is, and we both agreed that we like him.
Photography - We havea family friend (haha) who does photography as his "second job) and for $150 dollars he will do engagement pictures, the wedding, and the recpetion for us. As far as the engagement pictures, we won't get many, but that's not a huge deal to me. The wedding and reception, I will get a total of around 250 pictures and he also makes a DVD slideshow of his "favorite" pictures with music in the background. I am very excited to have him do the pictures, because I know him and know that I will be comfortable around him. He knows the pictures that are very important to me (like me and my dad, me and my mom, me getting ready, the first kiss, etc.) so I am very confident that he will do a great job.
For the most part, I think I have all the huge details out of the way! :) Let me know what you think. Let me know any cute ideas you might have for reception decorations. Thanks!
