How long have you been together?: It'll be 2 years this March!
Do you have a personal wedding website?: nope
Have you read the

Anything else you'd like to tell us?: Lots! My girlfriend's name is Laurel. We've been seriously planning this wedding for about 6 or so months. We weren't sure exactly what we wanted to do to formalize our committment since we can't exactly go to the courthouse just to get it done. However, this has allowed us a lot of freedom since our wedding is by definition, unconventional and untraditional. Laurel doesn't get into the planning too much but that's ok with me because I love it!
First and foremost, my dress! Yes it's really red. It was really hard coming to this decision. I tried on at least a million dresses and loved many of them. I couldn't decide! But I had to. Oh, and I've never tried it on. Haha. It's Maggie Sottero's "Lana." Sorry it's tiny! See it bigger

The venue for both ceremony and reception:
The Groome Inn, a really cute bed and breakfast which does tons of weddings, though we'll be the first lesbian wedding! They're renting us all the tables and chairs.

The honeymoon suite ohhhhh yes:

Here are our centerpieces. We found them on clearance at Michaels! They're perfect. There are 14 tables I think, and the centerpieces come in different sizes which I think will look cool. We were going to do floating candles in the goblets and pillar candles in the vases.

The ring. I tried to take pictures of it on my hand but they just weren't turning out right. It's not a diamond, it's an aquamarine gemstone or something like that with two TINY conflict-free diamonds. I didn't have an "engagement ring" for a long time, and didn't care to have one, but when we were shopping for our wedding bands, I kept seeing them and wanting one, so I was going to get a fake one for myself just for fun, but then Laurel decided she needed to pick it out and I think she did really well! I absolutely love it. I told her no diamonds unless they were conflict-free, which I knew would be expensive and we couldn't afford it, so this is a great compromise.

I don't know what I want to do with my hair just yet. I think I will wear black shoes and put my maid of honor (my sister) in black as well. Laurel's brother is the "Man of Honor" and our good friend Ben will be a "bridesman." Haha! I don't know if we're having a flower girl or ringbearer yet. We don't really know any kids so we may get a friend to do those things too. We have a friend making our cake which will involve chocolate mousse and mocha icing.
Here are our save-the-date magnets which we JUST sent out. We bought the magnets from The Knot and then went to Michaels and bought bulk black notecards, cut them in half, then cut the fancy paper with cool scissors and glued it to the black notecards, then put sticky stuff on the magnets to stick them to the paper (but they can be easily removed, of course). The envelopes came with the notecards and we ordered address lables from
Colorful Images. Then we stamped the corner with silver ink and used a silver pen to address them! It took a long time but I'm really happy with the result. We plan on making the invitations too.

Our budget is small ($5,500) so we're doing what we can. The catering will be heavy appetizers (we really don't want a sit-down dinner, not to mention we obviously can't afford it) and luckily Laurel used to work for a caterer so we're getting a good deal. We will also have wine and beer, no liquor. It's important to us that our friends get trashed. Haha. Our parents are being very supportive but I think my dad and stepmom are having a hard time seeing this as a "real wedding" since it won't involve any legal paperwork. My dad is a photographer and will be doing our wedding photos. Laurel still doesn't know what she's wearing. A dress is out of the question for her. I think she's considering a vintage suit, but we're not sure where to get one or even start looking. Also, we'll be walking down the aisle together. We like the symbolism of that, much more than the symbolism of our dads giving us away.
Well I guess that's all for now! Thanks for dealing with my extremely random, picture-heavy intro post!
