DIY Hydrangea Centerpieces

I'm planning on doing an arrangment similar to this, DIY because I was quoted nearly $800 through a florist. I have other florists to visit, but I have a feeling that DIY will be my best bet ( Read more... )

I would ask a florist if the acidity of the citrus fruits will affect the flowers.

Are you slicing them in half or into slices? I'd think if you left them whole and didn't pierce the skin it would be fine.

As long as the silks are realistic looking, I don't think it would be weird to mix them with fresh roses. It may even work out better. I used a lot of hydrangea in my wedding (they were in my bouquet, my BMs bouquets were just hydrangea and so were our corsages and bouts),and it turned out to be hot that day and they wilted pretty quick. The hydrangea in my bouquet wilted and had to be replaced, and the bouts had to be left soaking in water until just before the ceremony. I used silk hydrangea for centerpieces, thank goodness.

I say see what your sample looks like, and if you like it, go for it!
