Reception Entertainment

Hey everyone!

My mom brought up something really neat the other day. We're having a DJ for the reception, but she suggested have my cousins and brother play a song at the reception. For background, they're all in the bridal party (so they'll look awesome in their matching tuxes) and are all awesome at music. Chuck (oldest cousin/GM/introduced me and FH) played in State College a lot and wrote this excellent song called "Pittsburgh, PA." (If you happened to frequent the Phyrst in State College, you may have heard him play in his two-man band The Paint Chips). His younger brother Breton (also a GM) is going to school for performance and songwriting at Berklee in Boston (kind of a big deal, haha). And my brother Rob (GM #3) is going to Duquesne this year for music performance and recording technology (he plays the drums). We'd probably give him bongos... cuz I'm not moving a whole drum set for one song, haha.

We were thinking of asking them to play "Pittsburgh, PA" (go to the link above and listen to it... it's awesome. Although much louder and better than the recording there) because the wedding is in Pittsburgh and both my family AND FH's family are Pittsburgh native... So everyone will appreciate it. And we'd have them play it late enough in the reception that everyone's had a bit to drink and will really enjoy it, haha.

Has anyone seen this done? Or had any experience with it? I'd have to talk with the guys as to what they'd need and if the DJ can do it. I've seen them do it acoustic so they wouldn't need an amp, but if the DJ can plug them in, they can be louder and use the speakers.

Random: Any fans/natives of the Steel City, definatly listen to "Pittsburgh PA"... and any fans of drunken Irish bar songs in general, listen to "Wild Rover"... you can definatly tell he recorded that at Penn State. ^_~ And he's definatly the kind of person that can't sing unless he's yelling at the top of his lungs... And then it sounds awesome, hehe.
